What do you guys think of the settings for Season X? They will be 4-player FFA settings played on the Four Castles map. I personally am interested to see how a FFA ladder will work and will play it, I'm worried about if someone starts off well though, will everyone else team up on them in other ladder games then so that they won't win the ladder?

i like it, the teaming up thing is a problem, and as i said in another thread, im almost sure one of the things in 2.0 will be anonymous playing, so people dont know who else is in the game, because he said it would "be good" and "the best players will be happy" meaning they wont be able to be ganged up on

I personally dislike FFA. As said in a past thread, FFAs are SICK! If you want to hate and be hated, play FFA

the thing about ffa is that they shouldnt be able to see your name to avoid having someone gettign smashed just for being someone with better stats

I also dislike the FFA style for any show of "skill" which is (IMHO) what a ladder is for. If you want the same kind of "fight your way out of RNG hell" system, then it would be better to just have it pick 4 random people, and pair them off for 2v2s. That way you have the fun of playing with a lot of different people, in bigger games, without having to fight off "he's higher on the ladder so lets all gang up on him" mentality.

My second thought is about that same mentality. I have a feeling that we're going to end up with someone or some people purposely halting their games for as long as possible and then trying to end them all in the last 2/3 days, especially because of the lower amount of games this season, so that they can just shoot to the top all of the sudden and bypass that whole problem.

i've been in a few tournaments in same settings, it always ends up with crappy losses, not my cup of tea.

Though this will be a good test for a possible ffa ladder where only the ffa fans will join...

Why does it auto opt you in? I come back to WL from 4th of July break and suddenly I have 4 ladder matches for Season X. I'll give it a shot, but shouldn't seasonal ladders require an opt in each season? It catches you up anyway.

The current method will lead to lots of boot games IMO, with people going inactive.

Chris, that's how its always been for new seasons for as long as I remember. They are removed after being inactive a ceartain amount of time, like the 1v1 ladder.

Well, in the past there haven't been FFA's

I think inactives will play a huge part early on with the FFA method and people not winning as much in general.

If you look at the games already finished its looking like inactivity will play a big part which is a shame.

to be honest i am a fan of FFAs so i am really happy to see this feature in the season ladder however it would have been nice to see anonymous playing.

ANONYMITY + TURN LIMITS + PROPER FFA MAP WITH SPACE (so you can recover in the first 5-6 games when you have idiot enemies to deal with) + POINTS FOR 1st/2nd/3rd/4th (not just 1st, so there is an incentive for everyone to do as well as.possible and not quit/surrender/go kamikaze when they realize.they cant win the game).

^^ that would be a.proper and ideal FFA seasonal ladder--something i would have actually joined.

I don't much care for FFA games. I thought I'd give it a shot anyway, but didn't notice that the boot time had been moved from three days to two days. I think I doubled my boot rate before I figured out what was going on.

I realize that it's my fault, and that I should've checked, but I'm done with this ladder.
