http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=23477 is a link to the map.

This is the first real map I have made so please don't be too picky about the design of it. I am looking for testers, mainly for 1v1 but possibly for 2v2 as well. Also please let me know if you see any missing connections or mistakes in the mapmaking process. Thanks for your time! - JSA

Ohio and Nebraska don't connect.

Didn't notice any missing connections/mistaken territories.

Maybe for aesthetics, when you split a state bonus in half, make the colors complimentary. So, North Half Light Green, South Half Dark Green.

Perhaps then you could make a superbonus available for each full state... perhaps like +1-+2

Borders could be cleaned up a bit before going public.

Distributions: I see you have cities distribution, but its really not the cities...

Rename Central Indiana as Indianapolis like Chicago is to Illinois.

Not to be jerk but it would be better to restart and use the division tool and move to create a clean border between bonuses.I don't think the colour is the biggest issue but it would be better if you used the colours on the first horizontal side of the colour sheet or the colours of the rainbow or monotonous colour or complementary colours or perhaps contrasting colours.

The node of the yellow from Eastern Upper Peninsula to Northwestern North Dakota should be rounded for a better look. The connections from kentucky to kansas makes no sense geographically but it may not seem important to you. Most of the Western South Dakota bonuslink is missing and cut off due to it going off the map size perhaps you can move it left so it can be seen fully however i think you should make the page size bigger in inkscape since it restricts the movement to the right when you zoom in.

Back to the yellow line from Eastern Upper Peninsula to Northwestern North Dakota, that line needs to be shown clearer to be on Northwestern North Dakota as it looks as though it's going over to another territory not shown on the map like the one in Ohio.

Can you explain how to use the division tool? And also, how do you make the page size bigger? I'm in the process of maybe redoing the whole thing. Like I said, this is my first map and so I am very new to Inkscape.

Imgur tutorial by BeerBeetsBattlestarGalactica
BBBG was on the verge of finishing the testing for his turkey map when he suddenly disappeared from warlight. The tutorial can be trusted as it works and his maps were good however i don't understand how he does the border with the trick he shows in that tutorial.
I go the above from a simple google search of division tool warlight.

Don't know who made this but it's a tutorial for map making too

One way of building WarLight maps is to divide larger areas into smaller territories with the path division operation. It can be used to divide a single region into two according to another path that defines the border between the new regions.
To split a region, you naturally first have to have drawn this region as a proper Inkscape path. Begin by drawing the desired border as a new path using, for example, the Pen tool. It does not matter if the path defining the border extends outside the territory you wish to split, as it disappears when this operation is complete.
After drawing the new border, select the region with the Selection tool, and then also simultanously select the dividing path while pressing the Shift key. Then select the Division operation from the Path menu, or press its shortcut Ctrl+/. You now have two regions that you can modify separately, and perhaps split again to make smaller regions. It is a good idea to simplify the dividing path before doing this, as simplifying the two new regions afterwards separately usually changes their border shapes in different ways.
When splitting a large continent into bonus regions, you can make use of the Inset operation after making all the divisions. Using an inset of half a pixel (set by going to Inkscape Preferences and opening the Steps tab) on each of the bonus regions should make their borders appear adjacent in the recommended way. After defining all the bonus regions, no further insets are needed, as inside each bonus region the recommended way is to have the borders overlap. Because of this, the bonus regions and their insets should be done first when mapping a larger continent.

Not sure I like the idea of wraps at all on here, being that it is a real world map. Obviously Ohio and Nebraska do not connect in real life, why here? And if so, why no vertical wraps?

Michigan Bonuses should be Upper Peninsula and Lower, not Northern and Southern. Lived there 28 years and that is how they are spoken there. You have the territories accurately depicting this, just not the bonuses.

I also wouldn't call it Southern Illinois, since part of the bonus is the northern most part in the state. Looks like Chicago is the only city you made significant as well (it is by far the largest, but other large cities (like Metro MN) is not separate. Might want to do a few more larger cities that way (Minny/St Paul, Detroit, St Louis, Indi, Columbus, etc). I guess Chicago is the only one with more than 1 million people, but Indi, Detroit, Columbus, Minny/St Paul are all over 700k also.

Might want to account for all major urban areas, or simply stick with regions and include none.

Chris, I think the wraps make it more playable, I'm not gonna be a guy who makes maps just so they look nice, I want ones that would actually have strategic value. Thanks for the name change with Michigan though, I just googled Michigan map with regions and went from there :) I'll think about the cities and whether to include any, like i said, I'm planning on restarting this map and trying to make it better.

You should consider some vertical wraps then.
