Why does Vote To Boot work in single player?: 8/12/2013 21:32:19

I just wanted to boot a player who didn`t take his turn for 30 days. I decided to try if VTB works in a 1v1 and it did. Why does it? This means that your "boot time" accually isn`t the boottime, but your Vote to Boot time (wich is mostly shorter) is your accual boot time. Why is this?

It could be that it only worked because he was inactive for so long, but still I think that it should not be possible (even after a very long period of time)

Honestly, I think the VTB feature should be taken out altogether. I never see it used.

I've wondered about that before as well. I'd be interested to hear an answer...

Yeah, that's the kind of trick you only fall for once... (although I don't think it's a common troll tactic.

It's why when you create a 1v1 game, you ought to either set VtB to "never", or give it the same time as a Direct Boot. For 1v1 it's a useless feature anyways.

VtB has a use in small FFA's (4-6), probably mostly in RT, but I think I've only ever played 1 game where a player got booted this way.

VTB is useful in games with very long direct boot time, 30+ days. I've seen some people booted that way. However if more than 1 people doesn`t play it`s basically useless..

VTB works in 1v1 bc everyone except the one getting booted vote to boot him, whether that`s a good thing is another discussion :p
Even worse is in games with more people, let say 4ffa and if 2 players surrender so 2 are left then the boot time suddenly is reduced :o

Personally i think VTB should be removed when there's only 2 active (non-ai) players left in the game.

Agreed. It should not be active (or even an option) for 1v1 scenarios. I've personally never seen it actually used, that I can remember, though I did see a fair number of FFA games where some group of people tried to organize a VTB that ended up failing.

It seems like a good idea in theory (for non 1v1), but it ends up failing in practice.

In that game I let Saru vote to boot me, to make sure that it didn`t happen because I had waited 30 days for the other player. This was like an hour after to VTB time, so it works always -.-. This makes it even worse IMO.
