your 1,2 was the very best it could be.. I usually do combo,combo,combo picks but its personal perference. one thing i'd say is that you only get your 6 if you dont get your 5, so your 6 should be a counter to 5.
first turn, you should have used 4 armies on finland instead of 3. Yeah you ended up missing with your 4, but in most cases, 4v2 gives you more remianing armies, which can help you take West Central Russia more quickly.

I realised these werent Strat 1v1 settings, but on strat 1v1 its recommended that you dont use your +5 card until you see your opponent.

Thank you for your response. I used my reinforcement card because I received one every turn but I will remember that for future 1v1 games. That is a very good point about the 6th pick

Take one bonus at a time.
When you can see the enemy stop taking other bonuses and focus on fighting them.

Season II features light fog. That changes the game's dynamics a lot, as you and your opponent know where the other is.

Expanding into South America turn 5, especially like that, was a big risk, and your opponent should have attacked Brazil with a lot more to stop you from taking it. Europe was also pretty bad, but your opponent actually took Spain so there's nothing to be said there.
