Hi guys,

I'm playing Warlight for 10 days now and I start to ask me some questions.

First of all I have to say that I was often used to play "Risiko" as a classical Boardgame long time ago. Of course Warlight (without multi-attack) is some different in many ways.

Until now I have no real clue how to find out if somebody is good or not because I never have seen such a Point System in which nobody ever looses points. So from a theoretical point there could be a player playing here for a fairly long time and winning only sometimes. This player could have a good lvl?! Another play may be more new to the game but winning fairly often and have about the same lvl.

In this case 2nd player is stronger but they have the same lvl.

So if I want to know if somebody is a good player do I have to focus on statistics?!
If so this would lead to the next question - when a statistic is good?!

Another thing I'm thinking about is how can I improve my game?!
Of course I take a look at the history for any game, but I'm not sure which is the best strategie in some scenarios.

For example yesterday I beat a lvl 54 player 1:1. But what does this say?! Nothing at all?!
Did he play well? Did I play well? Is this an unfair outset and the game should always end like this?

This was our game: https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=7946612

I could write some more about this, but I guess anyone got my point so I wait for some answers now.

Thanks

first of all the level of player doesn't tell much about his skills - even the dimmest one can achieve high level if he plays a lot

Don't play autodistribution, play with/against good players only, analyse your games afterwards.

Points go towards level and levels unlock features they are not a gauge for skill.... The ladders are what is used for skill gauging.... And in those games your rating will drop or rise based off your performance and opponents performance.

The auto-games is a good place to start if you wanna get better imo.

Never believe the statistics (you can look on ladder ranks though).
The Level does not represent skill whatsoever.

Well, level can be a quick measure at first glance. Honestly, even ladder rankings don't tell that much after all, but yes, they are the one measure that is closest to something like objective strength of a player. And yeah, the 1v1 auto game is a good start indeed. Or simply watch games of the top players on the ladder(s).

Play good players. I am level 53 but terrible and I openly admit it. If you are not talented at gaming play Diplo, it gets you good mates.

Also if you want an easy levelling up template: https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?TemplateID=563844

They are called LOTTERY games.

Oh, and set the "minimum level" to 19 or below, or you can't play.

Yes, and the boot rate, even though LVL doesn't mean more than experience.
70% and above are good.

Not by theory, play.
