I was wondering how well represented the 'large clans' (100+ members) are on the top of the 1v1 ladder. Here's what I see in the top 100:

LEA: 2
MaxTroll: 0
Darklords: 0 (no complaints)
LostWolves: 0
Vitrix: 0
KnightsTemplar: 0
Roleplayers: 0

Obviously these numbers fluctuate over time, but I think that the larger clans are rather underrepresented. We need to step up to the plate here, because we have the numbers to do some real damage on the ladders if we put some effort into it.

it's a tough sell in my clan. i just recently fell in love with the 1v1 ladder and i'm trying to preach the good word. i used to think with how many members we have there must be a fair amount of people playing competitive games, but i'm starting to think that's not the case. most of our members were recruited from diplo games, and they like those best.

but, hey, i'm in the 220s now, maybe if i flex my brain a little more i can get into the top 100 in a couple of months.

That is what you get when many (not all) large clans do nothing but spam everyone with invites. They don't care about being good, just having the most total points. Once (IF) the clan 'ranking' page is changed to something other than total points...maybe those spam clans will go away.

I have helped many 'weaker' clans get better, but I would never expend any energy with a spam clan.

has anyone noticed that there are two types of clans,

COMPETITIVE (smaller, less political)

POLITICAL (clans with politics and RP, not so much talent)

And have you tried to form competitive players before. In large, non competitive clans it is almost impossible. So shut up until you join the lost wolves and try to make a competitive group out of them (I chose the largest active clan).

they are recruiting massively, that isn't hard.

Cos they lost 50 inactives, and in return got 4 refugees.

Clans are a pointless feature anyway.

Nah, they let you have your own forum with your mates, which in my opinion is easier to use than group mail, and they give you a sense of community.

No need to give me manager rights. I can do my job without it.

We started as a diplo clan but then very soon after the clan was created it has started to be a bit more diverse especially with 5v5 stuff..

There are many more types than that Thomas.

rp was formed to focus on role playing templates.

some clans are just buddies outside of warlight.

some clans are buddies on warlight and don't bother with clan politics on here and may or may not care about being competitive.

some clans focus on internal growth while others acquire players who have already grown

You can't limit a clan into a couple categories. There are dozens of clan strategies being used on here. I would say a good clan most of all has a clear cut ideology and that everyone in the clan knows what the clan is about and is happy with their role in that clan.

Not true. 52 of the top 100 are in a clan, leading clan less people by a slight majority.

If GG,Masters,WM,Apex,Lynx,20 and 1 or 2 other clans(which contain 0-20 players in them) had all their members join at the same time in the ladders, you'll hardly see anyone else in the top 100 of the list
