We are looking for feedback on how we can make the game software better. Throw out your suggestions. If we see enough ideas we will make an entire update dedicated to live streaming.

Ability to see the game from a players perspective after the game is over.

1) Have an official warlight twitch channel and make specific World Championship series or sth similar. I'm also an active Starcraft 2 player and although many people are streaming on their own, always most successful streams are official WCS, ESl, GSL, Proleague etc. streams.

2) Make a trophy for best/most active streamers/commentators?

3) What Hennns said, it has been requested since day 1 of wargaminglive.

4) Make official warlight monthly rt tournaments that'll be commentated (again, most likely coin tournaments would be enough of an incentive, or at least a tournament with coin prizes).

Potential World Championship series:

a) make 10 monthly coin tournaments (or tournaments with prizes to get enough attention) that also award arbitrary points (1st place 1000, 2nd place 800 etc.)
b) total score will be best 6/10 tournaments, maybe 8/10 tournaments (I recommend former since warlight players live in ompletely different timezones)
c) at the end of the year invite best 16 (32?) players to a World Championship tournament where it's maybe a mix of group stages, double elimination, single elimination with multiple templates, best of 5, best of 7 series, vetoing templates and all that good stuff

As far as templates for different tournaments go, a group dedicated specifically to making strategic templates has started, so we'll be able to support any kind of deman for strategic templates in the future. Also if possible for making templates, please allow for multiple layers of wastelands, e.g. 10 wastelands of 5 + 20 wastelands of 3 etc..

Basically exactly what Szew said. I don't know how it could possibly be better. As a person who's played BLC competitively before and played many other eSport-like games, the most important part is full participation of the game owners. The community will immediately rally behind you so long as the ideas are great. I would be willing to commentate/help you guys set anything up.

I just can't host with my computer anymore. ;/


Aside from that: The only real tool I think is necessary for streaming would be partial history. I need to show viewers what the person is actually seeing vs talking about it. Coin tournaments where everyone contributes to a pool would make livestream tournaments even more fun.

i remember the tournament creation could use a revision for live tournaments. it limits the number of people you can invite, which was forcing us to use a temporary lobby to figrue out who is actually online willing to join, and only then create the final tournament.

also allowing the tournament creator to do small changes to settings (maybe re-request the already joined users to accept to continue) would be quite useful.

and having it announced on the main page somehow without having to create a temporary open games. would improve number of attenders.

another thing was to be able to see the game historic as seen by that person. not the whole open game. and have that option in an easy to toggle on and off way (shortkeys or button)

Hmm if there was a way to make it so a live tournament won't update until after I review the game that would be most useful. That way I won't have to go to challonge.com and make my own bracket.

Adding on to that idea, there might be a way to implement bracket predictions and such? That would be pretty cool

Now that ps mentioned modifiations to rt tournaments an automated lobby for rt tournament with a check-in option (like on challonge) would be sweet. Also, seeded tournaments anyone? Tournaments with implemented bo3, bo5 etc. for single round?

yess automated lobby great idea, didn't think about that. And ya, if they could seed players for 1v1 win percentage, or something like that... although i can see the system getting abused, I'm sure they can figure something out ;)

The entire tournament system needs reworking lol. We need bo3 bo5, seeds, and ability to create a bracket to suit our needs using randomized byes, coin pot, lobby, etc. etc. the ideas just pile up.

How about the ability to watch games after you have surrendered. Watch the outcome would be nice.

can you explain bo3/bo5?

bo3= Best of 3 (games)
bo5= Best of 5 (games)

So instead of a match between two players being decided after 1 game, you'd play more games. Whoever wins most games wins the match.

How would you determine the seeds for players?

Tournament Creator would decide... Unless Fizzer comes up with a ranking system that has to do with Activity, Ladder Rankings, Win Rates, etc...

If you host a private tourney, the host could make a small seeds. Like top 8 out 128 players, top 4 in a 32 players. (Based on skill)
In a tournament part of an event, like WGL, by past result of tournament. Who wons most of the past wgl is seeds 1, who is second #2 etc. Till half ppl. Other half is assigned random like it work now.
