I guess, I want to be as accurate as possible. But I cant find any divisions from back then, unless they are the same as today?

I've moved on to Iberia and Africa now anyway, I will do Russia last.

I very much like the idea of a map with progressive bonuses tracking the rate of expansion of various empires/nations. Players would be incentivized to follow historical lines of conquest, which is interesting.

Are there any other maps which do that? Which ones?

Apollo, divisions are the same, only in 1940s there was Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic, in place of Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and borders of both were different.

@Mr Poireau, there is a fair few but not a lot. I got the idea from Eliod map of Rome.

@Salleen, Thankyou! Though I've decided to alter it a bit for areas the Germans invaded so I can use the progressive bonuses.

I think I'm going to run out of space before I finish the map :(. So I'm going to go around each territory deleting nods :'(. Why did I start this.

Yes, bit by bit. Only Russia and Turkey left in territories. Then I'll have to do bonuses, territories, background, deleting nods (will go oversize) etc etc. Hopefully finished within June. I may set up a test thread soon.

I am running scarcely low on space (file size), does anyone know how to save the SVG into the 'special' SVG? That apprantly gives you more?

In the Netherlands you have a territory named Haag, which isn't a place, if you want to do it right you should name it Den Haag (dutch) or The Hague (english).

It looks like a good map for me anyway.

Thanks, I will set up a test thread when its nearly finished. I have big problem however, I've finished Russia and nearly Turkey, though I am already over space and cant upload it. I am having to go around individual territories deleting nods (horrid work, and I'm not sure if that's going to allow me enough space or not :(

@Sander, Thx will be changed at some point

What're nodes?

They are the points of a line that join together to make up a shape (territory). The problem is, my method of clean borders results in a lot of unnecessary nods being made (in corners for example 3 instead of one).

I really need to find out the different way of saving a file - I think it's pure SVG - which allows you an extra 100 or so. Not sure who knows how to do this.

Apollo, not sure if you've tried this, but when you save in Inkscape there is a file type calle "Plain SVG" and that might save some space. Probably not much though, but you can try it.

Apollo, inkscape usually saves your file as inkscape-svg. you simply have to chose normal-svg instead. should be the second file format available. In this case you are able to spare 25% of your memory space.
