I believe "everyone" knows that aircraft carriers are pretty vulnerable (at least if you play Civ 5). Where did "the media" even claim the opposite, you are just making a straw man argument. It's a typical german leftist mentality to think that everyone not sharing their views is an arrogant fool blended by some media propaganda.

Right, either that, or a stupid fool believing that playing civ5 can give them insights in real life performances of carrier fleets.

If you as a german would have argued instead, that the germans already did it with the U24 against the USS Enterprise in 2001, I could have taken you serious.

Also, I don't get where the assumption stems from that only U.S media is biased, media all over the world is horribly biased. USA does not have the monopoly on propaganda, and while there is plenty pro-U.S lies to be found it seems anti-U.S lies are far more abundant. With said anti-U.S lies usually being spread by non-Americans who don't know what they're talking about.

TL,DR: All media is slanted, just like your frequent U.S bashing.

I'm not interested in military details and believe I made my point pretty clear. Even with my little knowledge from mass media and computer games (Bf4, Civ5) I know that aircraft carriers (tanks im BF4) are sitting ducks. Also I already read stuff about Chinese countermeasuress to counter sophisticated US military, again im mass media. What I have never read about im mass media however is someone claiming that you can use an aircraft carrier at the front line as a battering ram.

Blaze said it exactly. Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) has made great advances as have submarine technology, but you are forgetting something myhandisonfire. Carriers have multiple escorts and they do not engage fleets. They use Carrier Air Groups to damage them from hundreds of KMs away.

A pack of subs will not encounter a carrier alone.

Carriers have multiple escorts and they do not engage fleets.

Next time read the articles linked before you argue, the submarines in question all bypassed the carrier escorts undetected. Your post just prove my point of how overexaggerated the detection capabilities of modern submarines are.
Besides, carriers of course do engage fleets, thats one of their main mission profiles, the ability to destroy enemy fleets with their bombers hundreds of miles away.

Unless I am mistaken, the carriers do not engage enemy fleets. The aircraft that are on them do.
