Coin tournaments are finally here! You can join them and win huge jackpots!

See the full announcement here: https://www.warlight.net/blog/index.php/2015/03/update-3-7-coin-tournaments/

Coin tournaments are generally a great deal for people joining. For example, here's the first one: https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer/Tournament?ID=13973. This tournament pays out a total of 256 coins, yet it only takes in 192 coins! (32 players times 6 coins each)

Part of our goal here is to make sure tournaments fill up and start quickly. We want people to be able to browse a list of tournaments and know that they'll actually start in a reasonable amount of time, which wasn't the case before.

Coin tournaments normally cost 6 coins to join, so 20 coins can join three tournaments.

" The only restriction is that you must use pure-skill settings since there cannot be randomness in coin games"

This mean i can only use the built-in templates from coin games(RoR, ME, SE, Turkey) or can i use any map and with no-luck cycle and 0% SR ?

I like it (just to clarify that, as i'm starting to complain)

So:
1. No way to create public round-robin tourney. I think i should be allowed with no prize and no entry fee.
2. Apparently there's 20% rake for tourney, sounds a bit high. But same as 1. it's only minor issue and for sure want prevent me from playing them:P
3. Tournament creation fee. I understand that task of this fee is to keep open tournament tab clean. That's fine. Still, if i wanna to create medium sized (32 players) tournament with 180coin entry fee i need to pay 3840+ coins only for creating. That's waaaay to high. I would say that creation cost shouldn't by multiplied.

And one question:

I assume that playing with multiple accounts in prized 1v1 is not allowed. What about playing with X accounts(in the same team) in XvX prized tourneys?

great update fizzer!
i didn't try yet, but would be cool if you clarify what krzychu asked:

can we use a template we want as long as it is 0% SR no luck cycle and manual distr?

can we play a team tourney with uself? i mean i create a 2v2, and i join a team with a my alt. Is this ok or against rule?

thanks again for the update, i didn't try yet, but from what i read in your topic, it looks greatttt!!!

It appears that Warlight will no longer have publicly advertised free tournaments. Free tournaments are now private only. That's a loss of a rather important feature, as free tournaments were one of the main things that not only got me into Warlight generally, but also allowed me to socialize with other warlight players. I would not have joined V.I.W two years ago if it weren't for a free round robin tournament I joined.

It's a worrying trend. The things that got me to know and love this game are slowly being de-emphasized, hidden, or outright removed in favor of coin games. The vast majority of players aren't interested in coins. We just want to play the game we love.

I would not have joined V.I.W all those years ago if it weren't for a free round robin tournament I joined.

Did you find this tournament in "Open tournaments" tab or you were just invited to it?
The only thing that changed is, that you need to pay to advertise your tournament in 'open tournaments', but you can still be invited to free private tournaments. Vast majority of players joined tourney they were invited to, so there's no big deal.

Ok, why exactly are we unable to make private coin tournaments? Why is the max entry fee 60? And why is the cost of making the tournament close to the whole prize pool? I was excited for coin tournaments mostly haveing smaller high stakes tournaments in mind (or at least mid stakes, 100 coin entry fee with 32 players rt with 25-30$ prize pool does not seem like it's asking for too much). Please tell me I misread something and I'm wrong about what I wrote :(

Why is the max entry fee 60

I think you can enter multiplier from keyboard and use higher entry fee. But creation cost become 'discouraging' then ;)

I will miss open tournaments.

I'd mention some other things but Fizzer announced it, so I'll just accept they are gone as I knew them now.

Ok, suppose it's even possible, why can't the costs of the tournament be distributed evenly amonng participants? That was what I was expecting, no coin cost for the tournament, but lower prize pool than the sum of entry fee.
