Thought for next update. Sorry, I know you just did one.

My Idea:
Show number of times player has booted another player. With percentage of games played vs the number of time as the "booter".

Thoughts?

If you hate being booted, then why do you participate in games with short boot times? This is what the HELP says:

"If a player does not take their turn in a timely fashion, they can be booted out of the game so that the game can continue.

The game creator can set a "boot time" when creating the game that will determine how fast each player must take their turn to avoid getting booted. The boot time typically determines the pace of the game and how long a game will take to play."

The last sentence is the most important one. One player may not destroy the pace of a game. If someone created a 5 minute boot game, then he wants to play it in one sitting, maybe because he has only a limited timeframe for the whole game himself. If players do not respect that, then its absolutely ok to boot them. I myself give others a grace time of 20% - 50% of the boot time. But then my patience is gone too.

I'm getting booted in 3% of my games. By saying booters I mean people with finger on the button syndrom. I play only slow games with at least 1d boot, where boot after just few hours makes no sense really, it just spoils the game.

I agree with Krawat.

I am talking about the players who have the boot window open and hit "direct boot" at the instance the boot time hits/expires.

I understand the frustration of waiting for people to take there turn. Unfortunately there are so many different legit reasons why someone may take a little longer than the expected or the normal.

I myself will tell people when I am taking longer than expected... Connection issues, have to run to my car, have to take a shit, etc. When someone boots to affect the outcome of a game, then this is not so gentlemanly.

All I am suggesting is, if we can now see how many times someone has been booted, we should be able to see how many times someone has "direct booted" someone else.

I, as a gentleman, give a warning to the boot time for a first offense. If it continuously happens, then there is no reason for a warning on the second, third, fourth offense, and so on.

Thanks,
Sir Frederick

I typically only play 5min boot games. If the time reaches 5min I ask if they're there. If no response within 1-2min after then I usually boot. Unless it's a team game then I'll often wait quite a bit longer.

in 5 minute boot games i will wait til 10 on first turn, and depending on the situation 7-10 on subsequent turns, generally speaking.

for the sake of the forums ? lulz. you really consider yourself as someone serious and important. Talking about trolling, you did a great job on the thread I opened about one abusive boot player... and yes, my nature is different than yours, you like to play the smart ass... I prefer honesty.

Lets close this parenthesis and come back to the subject :

This option of seeing the # boot could be really helpful to decide entering a game or not. Especially on big map, we all know players ready to boot as soon as time is over.

# of boot wouldn't be as helpful as % over boot amount ratio would be.

What do you mean by "boot amount ratio". Boot divided by total win ?

ratio above boot time.

ie, booting at 2 minutes in a 2 minute game would be 0 minutes over boot time, thus 0% increase

bootig at 10 minutes in a 2 minute boot game would be 8 minutes over, thus 400% increase.

do an average of a persons overall boot time ratios.

can't just do a straight boot time, cause then it would be as worthless as the move time stat, with a mixture of real-time and multi-day games.

albiet this method by a repetitive booter could be falsely changed, but...

you won't believe me, but I agree with you on this one :P

Would be more relevant to introduce the idea of a % over boot time.

A good portion of the times I've booted it's been my own teammates. Woudl those count? Woudl you count "vote to boot" or only "direct boot". +1 on the ratio idea.

the problem with % over boot time can still be misleading as i have been in a game with a 4 min boot timer but took about 4-5 days to complete cause after a couple of turns we agreed to continue at a later time.

thus % over boot timer does not mean that a person in likely to hold up a game

@Dominator: for sure it won't be more than an indicator. Not a proof that someone will systematicaly hold up a game. However, if I see a profile with for instance 100 boot, with a % over boot time of ~1 %, it gives me a good idea of how the guy is reacting to overtimers. I mean it's the same idea than indicating the % of games you've been booted from that already exists.

@Duke: good point, in my opinion I don't think Vote to boot should be integrated in the stat. I think we are talking about Direct boot here.
