Multiple un-official sources are now predicting that there's going to be a massive asteroid impact striking Earth on September 24th of this year. Now I can't find any official sources to verify this, but conspiracy theorists are all over it.

As a personal aside, there was that one in 2000, and that one in 2012, and maybe some random one in 2005 that I can't remember. So, most of the world's population has lived through two or three "the world is ending, we're all gonna die!!" hypes and people still believe stuff like this. . . .

Initially these kind of things are interesting, but I always have to remind myself to treat anything read online with skepticism. Also the fact that no official sources are backing this up keeps me from believing it. (Despite what conspiracy theorists say, it would not be possible to keep something this serious covered up. The media would talk about it whether governments approved or not)

It depends on how badly the government wants to keep it up, but it's nothing incriminating to the governments themselves (though it does harm their folk nationalism a bit by making everyone scared, but everyone will know, so everyone's folk will be harmed, so it's not that bad).

No need to worry, the yellowstone super volcano is going to blow before then, and most everyone in the US is going to die anyway. The government is covering it up to prevent panic.

If the Earth is totally destroyed I think everyone would die not just many.

We should colonize other planets and than we won't have to worry about losing Earth quite as much.

literally, tens of thousands of asteroids come close to the earth every year- thats why no one hears about it.

Because big asteroids keep coming by, but the solar system is simply so big, and the earth so small in comparison, there's too small of a chance for any of them too hit us.

Not to mention, I don't doubt that if a big asteroid ever DID threaten the earth, China/Russia/US has enough nukes to handle it. Or enough scientists. Or whatever they need to stop it.

I've never understood people who predict the destruction of the world... It's not like they're going to be able to say "I told you so"
