First, let me say that I love the flags that identify what country a player is from. It is very interesting and fun, and helps to emphasize what a global community Warlight is.
I'm curious why the USA shows the state of the player as well though. There are a lot of players from the USA so it makes some sense to further divide by their state, but it seems like the state declared does not actually agree with where the player is located. I am guessing this goes by IP, and people playing from mobile devices may have an IP assigned from a different state.
For example, of the IRL friends I know playing Warlight from Minnesota, we have states declared as Illinois, Georgia, actually Minnesota, and in my case no state at all.
It seems to me it would be better to just say "USA" for all USA players, and leave the states to be declared in the player's bio if they choose.
What you suggest ( I assume in jest) would be fascinating, and more equitable, but I suspect very difficult to implement. It also wouldn't solve the problem of mis-identifying US states.
The reason that they have you select your state is because of gambling laws. When they introduced the coin system, they introduced gambling. So if you set your state, it may not let you purchase more coins if the states laws don't allow it.
Well, when I go to the settings page and scroll down to 'jurisdiction', it says "United Kingdom; [county]", where [county] is replaced with the name of the county I'm currently living in. Counties aren't jurisdictions. They have no legislative power. What it should say is "United Kingdom: England and Wales". However, on my profile when I scroll over the Union Flag, it just says "Plays from United Kingdom".
