Good or bad? I'm personally mixed on this.

there is no vote yet, and well it is a good thing, after all the Eurozone does not need another Greek case. the EU should ban weak states.

Britain is against it because the Pound is much stronger than the Euro, and despite the easier transactions of money, it would be much more beneficial if Britain continued using the Pound, as the Euro is going downhill fast.

In short: with the Euro, they wont be able to create inflation by printing money as they pleased, what can be good for there export; if they accept the euro, then everything will get more expensive for them; losing the Czech koruna, will also mean losing a national symbol that will be lost forever.

Currently all members of the EU, except Denmark and the UK, are required to change their currency over to the euro once they have met a set of economic targets. However, there is a loop hole that allows states not to join because 1 of these requirements is 2 years membership of ERM II and there is no part of any treaty that requires members of the EU to join ERM II.

Back in 2003, Sweden held a referendum on change its currency over to the euro and the Swedish voted no. As a result of this, their government didn't take them into ERM II and they still haven't changed their currency to the euro to this day, despite meeting all economic targets, bar 2 years membership of ERM II. After the referendum, the European Commission said they would allow the democratic wishes of Sweden to be respected this time, but they would not accept any other attempts from anyone at a "euro-dodging referendum".

I think the European Commission were bluffing to scare other members out of voting on the euro. If the Czechs do vote no, 1 of 2 things will happen. The European Commission will have to admit that it was a bluff, or the European Commission, all of whom are unelected, will have to over rule the democratic will of the Czechs.

BTW the Euro shall be disbanded and divided into several zones, zone A with Germany, France, Benelux, zone B with countries such as Italy, Ireland, zone C with Greece or Spain, zone D for new states generally poor states (Romania, Czech republic, Slovakia, Baltic states, etc)
