Well, I bought this game online for 9.79 and its a great game. You make games for different systems, just like a real dev in the early 80's, and work you way up. But one thing annoys me. They had to mangle all of the game system names so they could work. Seriously? I can type "Playstation" without being shot by Sony, so why can't they? (I mean, its so damn obvious what the consoles are anyways). Considering you can work out what all of them are, what is the point in the secrecy and copyright? How much would they really be up for if they used accurate game names? Do we have any legal expert on the forum?

well most companies are sue happy right now so the name changes could be from that or the creators were just trying to be funny.

Are you sure you don't mean Trademark in gaming?

And here's why I think you should mean Trademark in gaming.

Copyright is designed to give protections to artists for making new creative expressions. There really isn't anything new or creative, thus nothing copyrightable, about the word "Playstation". Its just two words crammed together.

However, there are likely trademark protections associated with the word Playstation. Trademarks are meant to reduce consumer confusion, allowing consumers who see the same trademark on two products to assume that the same source created both products.

So, by changing the name from Playstation to ABC Game, a consumer wouldn't think that Playstation wouldn't have anything to do with the product from ABC Game.

The funny thing is, based on your brief description, simply changing the name of the game, but keeping everything else the same means they are likely infringing on the Copyright, but not the Trademark, associated with the game.
