Sept. 26, 1983 in the Serpukhov-15 Bunker. Computers begin indicating a US Missile heading towards the Soviet Union. Akmirov dismisses this as a False Alarm but soon, more missiles are launched and he begins to believe this was a real attack (even though it wasn't). He calls the Strategic Rocket Forces that a US attack is underway

Soon, over 1100 ICBM's are launched at the US, China and other Countries. President Reagan is evacuated to NEACP (A Boeing E-4B Nightwatch). He is informed that the Soviet Union has launched Missiles against the United States. He gives the launch codes and orders a full retaliatory strike

The world is set back to technology of the Ancient Greeks. Only 1% of the scientists survive. Electricity may be lost to the human race forever.

Enrico Fermi is a survivor and claims to know that life cannot pass the challenge of not destroying itself.

There is few fertile land in the world, one of the last fertile places is the Amazon River, where you and 1,500 others go to start a new civilization.

In Europe, the Liechtensteiner, Austrian and Swiss Governments have merged to create the Alpine Confederation. However, Nuclear Fallout from the North and West are causing Problems for the Country. Riots are widespread as Looting and Violence still prevails in Many Parts

Australia didn't get bombed at all cos noone cares about them, but has an economic meltdown due to the fact we can't sell our dirt anymore.

The Arabic world completely collapsed. Very few nations of the middle east have even a functioning government.

Luckily, a contingent of 3,400 Saudi Arabian military and their families made an exodus before the government meltdown. They were on a migration route to Iran. They figured that they could settle somewhere in the mountains, and wait out the insanity.

They had prepared however, they knew war was coming eventually, and they were survivalists, they were all skilled in certain professions. If things did not cool off at ground level, they would found a new civilization. They were at least 7 hours drive from their location of choice.

With the Creation of the Alpine Confederation, Peace and Stability was achieved in the Alps. Reconstruction was underway but a Massive Wave of Refugees are causing Problems for the Alpine Government. At first, they tried to save as much as they can but as more and more started to flow into the Country, they began to restrict those without Passports or Relatives in the Country. Most Deaths in the Journey to the Country was attributed to Soldiers turning back Refugees. Soon, the Refugee Problem eased

Fallout also eased, with the Alps protecting the Country. Down South in Italy, Survivor Nations such as Tuscany, Ferarra and New Rome were popping up. In Southern Italy, the Mafia State of Sicilly began terrorizing the Region, laying claim to the Straits of Gibraltar and the Entire Peninsula

The vagrants arrived at their plateau. A perimeter was established, and all of the tents and temporary homes were deployed. Gardens were immediately set up, several teams examined the landscape and began setting fancy devices into place.

In a role call, they found they had retained 60 policemen and 40 soldiers. There was only 94 of the 100 designated farmers and gardeners present, their reported causes of death being common illness or unfortunately being in a blast radius.

97 of the 100 designated engineers, manafacturers and architects were present, for reasons unknown. Only 73 of the designated 100 scientists made it, due to several of their vehicles transporting them being raided by a wandering mob.

All 35 of the designated administrators had survived the trip. This was something sorely necessary.

After several hours of role call, the results were in.
Out of the designated 3400, only 2960 had made it. Most of the casualties were in medicinal, scientific, hard labor, psychiatric, historian and commerce fields of occupation.

Nevertheless, survival was still a prominent possibility. They had the structure and order to maintain their settlement, and a military backbone to discourage and invaders.

Meanwhile, talk quickly spread within a week throughout the entire middle east of a safe haven somewhere in Iran. This new influx of immigrants to Iran tipped them over their capacity, and their government slowly collapsed.

In fact, almost all of the middle east had collapsed. The UAE and Iran were the only ones still standing after a mass exodus of Yemenis into Oman and Saudi Arabia crushed their governments capability.

It is up to this Irani settlement to guide all of the Middle East. ...

October 3rd 1983

Portugal was barely surviving. Huge amounts of its population were wiped out, due to the nuclear radiation that swept in from Spain. Family members and friends were being lost, and it was now common for someone to hear that a relative had died. People grew used to the fact that not many will survive, and they realised that the Iberian Peninsula was no longer safe. People from small communities banded together, and migrated to the south of their country, to try and rebuild a Portuguese civilisation. This attempt was futile, and the desperate civilians of Portugal continued to suffer.

Technology was sparse, and the government had lost all connections to the outside world. Food was scarce, and supplies were running out. The population of now 6,000 Portuguese citizens, thinking that the largely safe African continent was the best place to travel to. They were sure that Angola would accept them, but there was one terrible problem. They had no ships.

The best idea came up with, was by a 35 year old man, named José Ribeiro, previously a lawyer, now a farmer. It was simple, but the public all had faith in him. He proposed that they establish small villages, with temporary homes to house everyone. They shall wait, while everyone works as hard as they can, to build ships, to escape the nuclear wasteland. The first stop would be Morocco, and they would become nomads, surviving on what they had on their backs. The people would eventually be lead to Angola, and Portugal will seek refuge there.

Australia works out its fine and sends a ship around the world to find other people. However, they get drunk and the ship sinks.

Australia thinks that it was sunk by pirates around Iran and sends a warship (not godmoding, we probably have a warship at this point).

As reconstruction continues, Scouting Missions were began by the Alpine Government to survey Northern Italy, Germany and Provence. The First Mission was a huge success with finding survivors. Soon, Survivor Nations were found in Germany and France such as Prussia, Ansbach, Bavaria and Venetia. The First of these Survivor Nations to join the Alpine Confederation were Bavaria and Ansbach (however Bavaria was slightly violent against the Annexation). Soon, Venetia joined the Alpine Confederation to protect itself from the Growing Mafia State of Sicilly

After a few weeks, the Irani settlement had an influx of new settlers, up to 12,500 now lived there. It had become a town by this point, by the name of Huwhili. Huwhili's government turned this town into a self sufficient city-state. It conducted a military operation into Iran, and brought back 20 nuclear warheads, seemingly left behind by Americans and soviets. Minister Muhammed al-Zav knew these WMDs would critically skyrocket Huwhili's power, and thus he arranged for a team of 150 to get them operational and in a standby state. Meanwhile, he expanded the military to 200, the police to 250 and began a reform that would call for the training of 4000 into able militia.

The humble settlement had large ambitions, and no doubt the key was destroying Iran and conquering nearby, similar settlements.

The nation was officially called the New confederate States of America, but it was referred to as the Confederacy. centered around the South Eastern US, where the only major cities to be taken out were Atlanta, Charleston, Wilmington, Raleigh, and Charlotte. The region was largely intact, The government was trying to hold together the South East and praying that The US government still existed someplace, the government used the exact same system as the US, no laws changed, except for a draft being introduced. The nation was weak, money was scarce, and the influx of immigrants from the ravage areas of Texas and the North stretched the infrastructure to its limits.

January 12 1 AD

The people of Portugal realised that the plan to scale the coastline of Africa was impossible with the resources they had, and decided to rebuild civilisation on the Iberian peninsula.

The Co-operative Republic of Guyana changes it's name to the Amazon Republic. They use the fertile soil to grow rice and sugar. They build up a navy for trade and war using their native wood, and start equipping soldiers to prepare for battle against Venezuela. The under-trained army and navy invade Venezuela with 2500 soldiers and 100 vessels and they are victorious. Luis Herrera Campins is overthrown.

Ships are sent out to survey other nations in the area.

Suriname: Very few survivors. Hunter/Gatherer lifestyles.
French Guiana: Everything destroyed.
Colombia: Their government is about to collapse. Very little amount of agriculture.

The American government ran off to Guam. Of 270,000,000 citizens, only about 30,000,000 survived. 85% of American housing was destroyed. 90% of American infrastructure was destroyed. 95% of the army was destroyed. 75% of the air force was destroyed. The Navy remained largely intact, 25% destroyed. President Reagan orders that the borders be secured, and that America be rebuilt.

Reagan notes that all American cities of 250,000+ were destroyed.
