A Game of Thrones - Westeros Diplomacy

Created by Dameon (all)
Went public on 10/12/2014
Number of ratings: 303
Average rating: 4.2178 / 5
351 territories, 209 bonuses, 7 distribution modes

Description

Credit to Pharaoh for helping out with art and Thulk for helping out with the names.

This is a map of Westeros, Braavos, and Pentos. It is set roughly at the start of the ASOIAF series.

This is a smaller version of the "A Song of Westeros and the Free Cities" map. This is designed to be more suitable for real-time games.

Features:
-Income is focused around holding cities and castles

-You will recieve a bonus for every capital (hexagons/octagon in western continent) and castle (pentagons in western continent) combination you hold that are in the same regional bonus. There are no capital bonuses for Essos (eastern continent).

-There is a map of King's Landing in the top right corner. There are 4 titles bonuses that can give you income, however there are negative bonuses in place so that you can only benefit from 1 at a time.

These title bonuses are designed to be given out to allies in diplomacy games, but make sure you trust them otherwise you might be giving them a very convinient betrayal!

Drama, intrigues, dethroning members of the council and being exiled to a desert where you starve for the rest of the game while engaging in intimate relations with your camels. 10/10 would play again.

Very good adaptation, faithful to the iron throne. It was a long-during game but it was really worth it.

Great map.

As good as the "A Song of Westeros and the Free Cities" map, but faster and with different gameplay. The king is stronger now - even more, if he has gift cards to invite friends to his round table.

Some minor suggestions:
- light fog problem: Please add that hill pattern again, that looked much nicer than these brown blobs. I wondered, when the brown player would start their attack...
- Thought about a negative bonus option for white walkers on their coastal ships? I think white walkers should not pass the wall by ship, or at least pay high for this.
- There are two territories 'Horn Hill'...
- I can not see why the city 'Horn Hill', Hammerhorn and Steadfast are not part of the cities distribution.

edit: Thanks a lot for the pattern and the fixes.
That whitewalker suggestion meant combinations of "From Beyond"-"Bay of Ice Deepwater" and "From Beyond"-"Storrold's Point Coast".

I've added back the hill patterns again, now you should be able to tell impassable terrain much easier.

I've opted to not have negative bonuses for deepwater territories on this map. You can notice that I left out any direct mention of white walkers for this map, so you can interpret them as either wildlings or white walkers.

Horn Hill, Hammerhorn and Steadfast were cities I added in last for balance purposes, I had forgotten to add them to the distribution but it should be fixed now! I've also included 3 more distribution modes to play around with.

*ooh and I see what you meant by your white walker suggestion now! Yeah that's a great idea! I'll add them as optional bonuses :)

Excellent map. I like the "city bonus" system that makes this map slightly different to other map, and a challenge and interesting.

I really enjoyed this map. Having the bonuses primarily in the cities as opposed to the territories adds an interesting twist to the game. Makes defending large areas less important and focusing your energy on specific territories more important.
My only problem with this map is that those that start in the South and especially southwest (the Westerlands, Reach, Dorne, Stormlands, and Crownlands) tend to have an advantage - it is easier to build a strong income quickly here. I played two 4 v 4 team games with random distribution. In each game, the team that got more players in the south, quickly got the upperhand and one.
Aside from that, however, very fun map!

Its a good one as long as there's Gift cards to utilize the small council, otherwise the king sits on all those positions and becomes stack, which really sucks should a bad King inherit the throne...Other then that, good map.

Probably one of the best GoT maps I've played on. Nicely designed, as it keeps the focus on Westeros, with Essos contributing slightly.

The Throne room is also another amazing feature, and really reflects a lot of what makes the books and show so great. 5/5, I intend to use this in my Diplo games.

Love the map and set up, it felt like a true battle, no matter how I set the map up, lots of fun, though I would not call it a true diplomacy with some territories not having a bonus and still having added bonuses for multiple territories, still it was a great map.

Neat map, but really not a good use of time. The Diplomacy games go long and are usually won by a clique of friends. FFA would be good.

Wow. I really, really like this map. It is nasty and very challenging.

I would like to see a couple more of the free cities involved, especially since you have the regions of Lys and Volantis (?) already on the map - just greyed out.

There was a missing connection somewhere, but silly me, I forgot to write it down.

Response by map creator Dameon on 10/16/2014
Hey have you checked out the bigger version of this map? That includes all the free cities.

I've checked the connections again but I couldn't find that missing connection you mentioned. Do you remember where about you saw it? Thanks in advance! :)
