Description

[14th Map] This map is roughly aimed around 1250 AD, however scenarios can be played right through the medieval period from the 5th century to 1485, hense the name. Suggested scenarios: War of the Roses, Saxon Conquest, Norman Conquest, Viking Invasion, Baron wars, Scottish war of Independence, Welsh rebellion, even the civil war. However considering the size of the map and the size of medieval history many more are achievable.

Additional notes:
-Connections across rivers are only passible via bridges
-Castles are auto income at 1, however are changeable (bonuses arent on map). NOTE: The 'Castles' bonus is used for indicating the income (top right diagram).
-Accuracy has been done to the best of my ability however there is possible some mistakes and inaccuracies! This is medieval times.

[Version: 1.2]
UPDATING 1.3: Update on names in progress, more accurate/important names missed out.

I love this map - it's well-made, the original concept was good and uses aesthetics to its advantage. It's a 5/5 from me; once again, the history-orientated cartographers produce another gem.

The art actually looks good zoomed in. Not a lot of people do that. Good job.

After changing and balancing the bonuses, mostly for Counties and Duchies, I have gotten to know the map fairly well. It is,as I predicted while previewing a 5/5.

Incredible depth with Castles,Counties,Duchies. Country bonuses a bit redundant for me personally but still better to have the option than not.
As somebody who enjoys big team games this map is going to be among favorites for that type of games, and I believe it is in addition also very good for FFA and there are lot of diplo possibilities here.

The best thing though is that map is very, very customizable.

I am not sure if any of these are errors but I will list the things I found odd :

-Stirlingshire is not a part of any Duchy.
-County of Dyfed is split between the Duchies, even Landovery -a part of LLanelli which is in Deheubarth - belongs to Duchy of Gwynedd
-Lydney and Stroud are connected
-Bracknell and Maidenhead do not belong to any bonus.

Kirkudbright,Montgomery,Plymouth,Horsham,Towcester have bonuses that differ from formula standard.

Thankyou's for positive feedback!
-Stirlingshire shouldn't be part of a duchy, because it's part of one not included in the map.
-County of Dyfed is meant to be split, I know it's not very convenient.
-Bracknell and Maidenhead shouldn't, they belong to Berkshire and that's it.
-Rest are mistakes, will be fixed!

Thankyou for your help :)

Cool map, but East Kilbride didn't exist at this time, yet it is a territory.

EDIT: Yes it is the only thing I could pick out. I've played dozens of games on this map and each one has been fun :D

I am happy if that is the only thing you could pick out

good map, but a few things bothered me like a couple territories that should connect, Whitby, and Scarborough as an example, and London, i feel like it is unfair to have only the one entrance to a mini map worth more than 20 points when the rest of the map has no other clustered bonus. it would make it more challenge to hold London if Romford and the other surrounding counties had at least one access point

The castles make for a somewhat annoying but nevertheless challenging dimension to game play.

I loved this map, I just wish it showed the old kingdoms of England like Alba, East Anglia, Murcia, Northumbria, or Wessex

I love this map a lot! The detailed subdivisions and Castle system makes it strategic, can let me play with England, and is the best out of all of those UK maps out there.

Great map, especially for team games and ffas, but really dependent on distribution more than any strategy.

At the beggining of the game i hoped i would'nt get stuck in the middle. Then i got stuck in the middle... To my great pleasure the north was abandoned! Anyway i had to put up quite a fight to conquer the south. Enjoyed it!

Good map, sprawling, but it does get a bit jumbled. Lots of arrow overlap, and a few missed connections (Huntingdon-ely balhernoch-edinburgh maybole-girvan all stood out on a first playthrough). The lack of larger bonuses seems to confuse the AI quite a lot, and single player is not exactly optimal (Very non-optimal. The AI goes outright window-licking crazy at least on my one playthrough. Stacking without expanding, etc.) The territories also are very small and the lack of larger bonuses does make it where it's less about positioning, more about size. Cannot easily crack someone open by breaking their front lines. Realistically, front lines mean nothing, and it's better to expand than defend, unless you have access to one of the very few choke points. Castles are a really cute feature, as is the angled access. Appreciable super bonuses might help. Not sure London submap is necessary or really fits the flow, but far from a deal breaker, just a little odd. 3/5
Response by map creator Mudderducker on 4/10/2015
Thank you for the missed connections, they seem to be the really awkward ones I missed out. This map isn't optimised for single player, it has been made for multi-player specifically. Maps with large bonuses, I find very un-strategical, this is my style. Super bonuses are included, top right! London map has been implemented to show the importance of the capital.

Thank you for review.

A fairly good map to play on. I would make it 2 players instead of 4 players. Then it will really make you think where to put your armies.

I like big maps, the only draw back being that if people surrender or get booted early, it will take a long time to make contact with the other player.
