Sudoku by Little Blue (Realistic)

Unlocks at level 13 or with the Mega Maps Pack
Created by Little Blue (all)
Went public on 12/19/2014
Number of ratings: 61
Average rating: 3.6721 / 5
81 territories, 36 bonuses, 1 distribution mode

Description

Territories are connected according to the rules of Sudoku, not according to what they border. Each number is connected to the numbers numerically above and below it, in the same row, column, and 3x3 box.

Bonuses exist for each row, column, 3x3 box, and each '5' territory.

This map is recommended for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 more than FFA. Playing with light fog greatly changes the game compared to normal fog.

Changelog

v1.1 - Increased bonus values, added 'capitals' for each 5 square, and a corresponding distribution mode.

v1.0 - Launch

Delightful concept, my head is still slightly spinning whilst I type this. It takes a bit of getting used to, and there are attacks coming from somewhat unexpected places: one needs peripheral vision for this map, metaphorically speaking. Great idea, and witty lay-out.

Glad you enjoy it. If you play with light fog, it's possible to plan things out further in advance, but requires even more thinking :P

As soon as the update goes live, it will be much more balanced. The bonus values were way too low for how much you have to defend from.

I really have no idea how to move around this map..... still am.... but, the concept of this map and the look of this map is interesting and decent. :)

I know it's quite different, thanks for giving it a try. If you click 'examine this map in detail', you can study how the movement works. Click on any number, and you'll notice the values above and below it that it connects to. Definitely takes some getting used to.

I love this map. The two articles on the side make it seem like a real newspaper. The content in the furthest right article is amazing too. Really great way to explain coin games.

I rate this map a 1000.000 out of 5. Awesome newspaper feeling, just what I was looking for. Some maps just get played by themselves while others need a hard push by the map creator, this is just like taking a du... You do a great job promoting your map on the open games tab. Keep shoving your map down people's throats and maybe sometime enough people join to start a game :)

Well, I'm glad to see people playing it. I wasn't expecting it to be very popular since the connections are so strange, but if people keep playing I'll keep hosting it.

Unique and an interesting idea. Just takes longer to get used to. It has a nice design of the newspaper and articles. However gameplay isn't great but its just very different from usual strategy. Though I like your innovative ideas - well done and no harm in trying.

This makes my head hurt, but in a good way. Very cool idea. The AI, however, is worthless on this map. Save it for multiplayer games only.

This was a very intrigueing way to make a map, and close observation of the way the map worked showed that proper planning could trump brute force.
I would be happy to see more like this.

Yeah, there are so many ways you can move around to create pressure on your opponents. Glad you like it :)

This is a brilliant map, and leads to some very cool gameplay as competitors wrestle with its nonintuitive layout.
