EDIT: A new version of the map has been released. It appears that connections, names, and bonus territories have been corrected. The bonus sizes remain the same, however, as do the tiny territories.

Despite the obvious faults, the map has proven highly entertaining time and time again, as all players have equal access to the map's strengths and weaknesses and the sheer size of the map lends to a large number of players. Familiarity with the imbalances themselves becomes as essential as knowing the terrain in war, and newcomers are often left begging for re-inforcements without so much as a "Sorry, y'all."

While very good for such a huge map, there are two major flaws. First, Virginia's mini-counties are incredibly annoying. Second, the map bonuses being focused around number of counties, not population, creates some odd dynamics.

Love the map, It's huge which makes is long and quite challenging. It takes awhile to actually complete in one setting, but it can be done if you have people with the time, or many players. I think this is perfect for a huge amount of people playing.

This map is fun and balanced (sort of), but is way too big and can take forever to play. Some territories also are unnamed or are missing connections, or are too small to put a number of armies in. This map is great from anyware from 1v1's to 12v12's, 26 player FFA's, ect. If you have plenty of time, this map is for you, otherwise, don't play this one. If you have the time though, by all means, play on this map. It can be incredably fun.

Just too large, AI has a distinct advantage late game, and when annoying people like my opponent decide to keep playing despite having already lost, the games goes on for hours. At first was fun but overall became very unenjoyable

It's a Monster! Starts a little slow, as the territories to gain additional armies are rather large, and some of the divisions are a bit unnatural- Montana would geographically divide between east and west rather than north and south, for instance, but overall, a lot of fun if you have the time. Not for the faint of heart!

Theres no strategy on this map, no chokepoints, etc. The winner is determined solely by how well a player knows how to make their initial distribution for maximum bonuses in the beginning. The game is basically won in the first few rounds.

Just a heads up; You currently have two Lycoming counties in Pennsylvania. I believe the western most "lycoming" should be Clinton county. I dont know Penn that well though, so I could be wrong

Welcome to the Behemoth of maps !
Grab your first few bonuses fast, for the game will be unrepentent to those who slack behind. Or don't, and move for a more rewarding state that will allow you dominion over the rest of the players... If you can achieve it in time...
A pretty awesome map, that will allow you to control huge armies without tweaking with the bonuses, if you reach the endgame. Trying it in real-time is an invitation to get booted out, so if you create such a game, make sure players can come back over AIs several times (and that those AIs will surrender to the last human (or not))...
This map is best for multi-days games, with teams or FFA (though diploing dosen't harm). The airlift card is a must-have, gifts are very useful and a spy (plus on neutrals) can help you position yourself, make allies or intimidate your ennemies.
I advocate for 0 or 1 neutrals. The normal 2 will slow the game to turtle pace and more make it a hell to finish.
Overall, an awesome map (and the biggest so far) !

At this point I don't think there is that much more to be said about this map. If you like big maps you probably love it; if you don't, you probably never play it.
What I want to add is about the revisions this map has undergone, which have been extensive. Those of you who are relatively new to Warlight can get some idea of this by looking over a number of the early reviews on this map. These edits went on over the course of several years and continued long after the glaring errors and playability issues were corrected. The end result is a really wonderful map with a lot of devoted players. This sort of long term commitment to map improvement is really laudable, and there are some other maps that could definitely benefit from it.

I gave þis map 5 stars! It may have very large bonuses making it hard to play, but I ðink þat gives þe nees to find a new strategy for þis map, you just can't play þe way you play on every oþer map. It was defietly a lot of effort, and it looks neat. Þe namings of þe bonuses is horriffic, yeah, but I guess þat represents þe American culture quite well, it is a weird mix of European on þe wrong continent afterall.

This is a BIG map. But, I do enjoy playing this map, simply because it's an inviting map for a big game. I have seen maps with whole states as the territories, though for mid sized US map, I definitely would like to see the states divided up into their regions and use the county borders as their borders. This would provide a good in between map for users.

This map is grat although it has one major flaw. You need to have a lot of time to play on it. I hate when people like 'dotdotdot' (as a mather of fact member with 1000 games) boot you after almost 2 hours of playing without chat message or anything when you take your turn 10 seconds longer then direct boot (5 min). To be honest from my 7% boot rate, 1/4 is from this map because of loosing and frustrated opponents. So generally, this map is awesome to play but with few conditions. Direct boot time has to be min. 8 min. However it depends on territory limit per player and initial armies - the more of it, the more time players will need. But even though, you need to remember that every next round will take more time, so dont boot players just because you are loosing. Just write a message on chat that you gonna boot if player x is gonna take his turn longer then direct. Thats fair enought imho. This simple rule is still being forgotten by warlight players.

Very interesting. The deployments of the opposition vary wildly from attempt to attempt. This means the map cannot be "gamed" by playing multiple times. It ia a test of skill. The run time can be short or very long. By chance, I deployed far away from all opponents. It made for a long game.

Really fun map overall, all states overall bonus income is a very interesting approach, which come from the approximation on how many counties each state has, and for the small states or states with low territory numbers, they get grouped up. The one exception is Indiana, which enjoys a 96 income bonus relative to its 92 territories. It's a minor thing but the map's still fantastic for my taste.

My favorite map. However, I noticed that the county of Jackson needs to be added to the Southern West Virginia bonus. Right now it's only in the Virginia bonus.

Territories with the same name (Essex) in the east, a territory in Michigan has two parts that are not visually connected - resulting in surprise attacks, lopsided layout of bonuses (not even following population density), territories in New York that are too small to even house a single-digit army number let alone a double digit number (a basic rule of map making). Nice effort, but too many errors for it to be worth playing again.

game is too large for someone to jump in to for his first game. pace is too fast. results (boot) are too extreme. At a guess, I'd say the winner is decided as being the very last player to get booted.
