This is a great free-for-all map. It's strategic without being deterministic. One slight problem: the northeast is a little bit too easy to take and hold compared to the rest of the map.

This map can work in either favor when playing a 1v1. I played with my friend and he took the East Coast while I concentrated my attention on the west coast. I was about to surrender and then the tides turned in my favor. Overall this is a great map.

Rocky mountain states should be worth more points IMO. They give an incentive to be in the middle of the US. Northeast is pretty hard to breach.

I think that this is a very interesting map with great strategy involved. Once you successfully defend the East, it becomes easier to dominate, so that area of the map is CRUCIAL!

The map is, of course, perfectly accurate. If you want to go to war on a US map, it won't get any more accurate than this.
Having said that, the map dynamics are a little awkward, because there's so many bordering states... It's hard sometimes to hold on to states because you are being attacked from so many directions. Or, put another way, it's hard to hold on to a front and slowly push forward (with the exception of the northeastern states) Many times the enemy pushes through from somewhere else and you get attacked from behind, and then you have to back up and push them out again. However, if you like that kind of uncertain dynamic, this is the map for you.
Overall, it's a good map with some quirkiness due to the geography.

I thought it was weird that colloquial region names weren't used and the author made up some of their own. (e.g. Why wasn't "Northeast" called "New England" and what's up with "Frozen North"?)
The regions as-defined made for some interesting play choices, but the geographical regions could be improved, and would still preserve a fun game.

I'd much rather play on a map of the US that's bigger. Only 48 territories makes for unbalanced games. Especially states like Missouri and Tennessee are unbalanced.

While it may recommend 2-6 players, this map is too small for any number over three. While the territories make geographical sense, they do not make a very fun game, as some (like the Rockies) are difficult to hold while offering little reward. So if one were unlucky enough to start in such an area, one would be far behind one starting in the northeast, southeast, or west. While short games have merits of their own, the short game I played was not very fun.
