Editing Vacations

Players may set their WarLight account to vacation mode, which prevents them from being booted.  This is useful for players who need to take an extended break from WarLight and want to resume their games when they get back.

==To Enable==

Vacations can be turned on by clicking the Settings tab, then the Change Vacation Mode button.  Players can set how many days they wish to be on vacation for.  It's a good idea to set the vacation to last a little longer than you'll be gone, since you'll be eligible to be booted from games as soon as the vacation expires.

==Extensions==

Vacations can only last up to 10 days.  More specifically, vacations can be set to expire up to 10 days from the date the vacation is enabled.  

Players who require a longer break can extend their vacation, but only within the previously mentioned limit.  That is, if a player starts a 10-day vacation, and 7 days later starts another 10 day vacation, their total vacation length would be 17 days.

Players get a maximum of 5 vacations or extensions per year.  This limit helps prevent abuse.

==Vacations Honored==

Game/tournament creators can disable use of vacations in their game by turning off the [[vacations honored]] setting.

==Automatic Disable==

If you play in a game, your vacation will automatically be turned off.  So make sure turning on vacation mode is the last thing you do before you leave.

You must leave all ladders before turning on vacation mode.  If you re-join the ladder, your vacation will automatically ended.

==Vacations and automatic booting==

Unfortunately, vacations and auto boot don't play very well together.  While the automatic booter can't boot players who are on vacation, it will try to boot players after their vacations ends, and committing orders in any game will cause a vacation to end.

This will be addressed in the next WarLight release, 1.06.  Until then, take special care when exiting vacation if you're in games with auto-boot enabled and over the auto-boot time.

To give yourself the best chances of not being auto-booted, follow these steps before you exit vacation mode:

# Identify all games you're in where you're over the auto-boot time.  If you're only in one, just take that game first - you don't need to follow these steps.
# Open all of these games in tabs or separate windows.  Enter your orders for each one, but don't press Commit yet.
# Once you're ready in all of them, go through them pressing Commit on each one.  The very first commit ends your vacation, so do the rest as fast as possible.

This works because the auto-booter doesn't check for prematurely ended vacations continuously.  It will only check once every 6 hours, so the odds of being booted while following this procedure are very slim.

It may also be a good idea to follow this for all games where you're over the boot time.  Even if auto-boot isn't enabled, another player may try to boot you just after your vacation ends.
