Hence the Apairtheid government got support from Europe, America and Japan as a way of fighting back communism in South Africa, this lead ultimately to the Border war. Where South African forces were against Cuban and Angolan forces.

Post Apairtheid, with the fall of communism. Mandela moves towards a more West friendly South Africa. South Africa gets developed, now South Africa moves towards China, the former Soviet union ally decides to join China. The Rand falls the worst its ever been.
