TIME TO SCHOOL SOME NERDS WITH MY HISTORY KNOWLEDGE:

Communism is the economic system where every single person in the state is equal. EVERYONE gets the same food, money, housing, etc., and everybody works the same. Every tiny thing is equal.

Socialism is similar, except the government is superior. The Government gets MORE food, MORE money etc. This is pretty much a highway to corruption (except in Lycurgian Sparta, but that's not important).

Communism, pure Marxist Communism, has NEVER been implemented in any country. There is no proof that it works or doesn't, because it's never been tested. But it's assumed that it wouldn't, because one person would start NOT being equal, and things would get un-communist pretty quick.

Socialism, on the other hand, has been employed in Many countries around the globe, though it's obvious its a dying system. Only 5 countries remain that are "socialist" and they're all in a pretty shitty state except one (China).

Now, on topic: Should the USSR have survived (highly unlikely, their economy was just teetering about, and the government was intentionally collapsed in order to save it from total disaster, so for our purposes, lets say its economy was doing OK), then we'd be facing continued Cold War and its associated proxy wars. But I get the feeling the American people would get tired of useless proxy wars, as they did with Vietnam. The Middle East might actually be more stable, with threat of a big scary Communist Empire leering over them (then again, maybe not). One thing's for sure, we'd all still be doing nuke-drills.

Mostly agree here, but there is a difference between anarchic communism (never done) and actual communism (SSRU), similar to anarchic capitalism (very rare, Somaliland is the only stable-ish zone that has it I think), and real capitalism (USA). Socialism does not mean the government is more there, it means that it is not as left as communism, that's it. And the Middle East will find a war, with help from somebody, it will, of course, it will.

okay now let's assume that in order for the USSR to survive, they abandon Communism and instead revert to a Capitalist Democracy (cause that's one of the most likely options cause you know, gorbachev)

Regardless, the way you explained equity and equality, both were goals of communism, so it really doesn't matter.
