The Martian Rants: Trump's Manager's Arrest.: 3/30/2016 22:15:04

A little while ago, Florida police have charged Donald Trump's Manager, Corey Lewandowski, with simple assault and battery for making contact with and grabbing the arm of reporter Michelle Fields, apparently giving her bruises.

(link to web article with video of the event: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/police-charge-trump-campaign-manager-with-assault/ar-BBr4Whf?ocid=ansmsnnews11)

Here's what really happened. Reporter Michelle Fields was trying desperately to interview Donald Trump as he was making his way somewhere after a debate. Instead of staying in her designated area, which she is required to do as a reporter (ever since Robert Kennedy), she approached Trump on her own, even grabbing his arm, to make him pay attention to her. Not long after this, Lewandowski approached Fields and Trump from behind and grabbed Fields' arm, brushing her aside, possibly pulling her back.

Fields claims that Lewandowski attempted to pull her down and that she caught herself before her legs gave way. She reported this incident to Jupiter county (Florida) police and the police have arrested Lewandowski.

F*ck this gay country.

The reporter was somewhere she wasn't supposed to be. It is said that she was approached by secret servicemen twice before Lewandowski stepped in to do their job for them. I have no idea how one can acquire bruises from a handgrip of 1-2 seconds to her upper forearm. I tried it on myself, didn't work. Maybe someone else needs to do it to me?

She was grabbing Donald Trump's arm! Does this mean the Donald is supposed to charge her with assault and battery, too? I agree with Donald Trump on this one; this woman is an attention seeker.

Politicians and anti-Trump protesters are already using this event as fuel to bash Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton is blaming Trump himself because his campaign has been "...inciting violent behavior." This incitement, according to Clinton, has "...resulted in attacks on people at his events," wait for it, "including this charge that has now been brought against his campaign manager."
including this charge that has now been brought against his campaign manager

attacks

this charge

Go fuck yourself. There is no goddamned attack in the entire video clip. I swear, Clinton will get behind anything so long as she thinks it will benefit her in the end. But then again, she's a politician, and so is Ted Cruz.

Ted Crud spoke out against Lewandowski and Trump, as well, saying that Lewandowski's actions are "...the consequence of the culture of the Trump campaign." I have listened to a couple of Trump's speeches. He doesn't incite violence. He will personally insult the hell out of you, but to say he promotes violence is to be misguided. A couple of Trump supporters' actions speak for his entire campaign, I guess.

John Kasich (Woot woot!) was a little more rational. He said that he would suspend people, depending on what evidence there is against them. My man.

You know, this case is only going to help Trump, in the end. People have seen the video clip, and they are calling Fields, the police, Clinton, and Cruz out on their bullshit. Corey Lewandowski was forced to do security's job when Michelle Fields was way out of line, and he wasn't really violent about it.

If you support Fields and the police, you are probably not going to be seen as smart nor respectable by me any time soon. In fact, I will see you as part of the problem, a tumor to society that should be removed. But if you are able to prove to me that Lewandowski had intention to bruise and pull down Michelle Fields in 2 seconds WITH ONE HAND, then I will submit.

Stay edgy, and have a nice time.

LOL. Literally you're gonna bust my appendix.

Do you believe everything the National Enquirer tells you to believe? (http://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/nasa-moon-walker-alien-cover/)

Note that the person who runs the National Enquirer is Rodger Stones, who is a prominent political aide for Trump.

http://www.cnsnews.com/commentary/l-brent-bozell-iii/dumping-tabloid-trash-ted-cruz

Also I find it ironic that Trump is using the stupid smear tactics that "Little Marco" used (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/03/25/ted-cruz-affair-rumors-peddled-by-marco-rubio-s-allies.html).

In any case...Ted Cruz will win the contested convention on the second ballot. Bye bye Trump. He should have organized better.

What do you mean by organized better? Try to get delegates vote against their voters' wishes? I call organization organization, and fraud fraud. Lyin' Ted might understandably confuse the two.

No its based on knowledge about how the GOP Convention Rules are written and how delegates are assigned.

Trump won't reach the threshold to win the nomination outright, which is 1237 delegates. If he doesn't, then after the first ballot of voting at the Convention, no one will be declared a winner. At that point a little more than 50% of the delegates become unbound, which means the delegates can vote for any candidate they want (either Kasich, Cruz, or Trump). The delegates that are chosen to go the Convention are based on state political conventions where individuals are elected to represent their congressional district or county. Cruz is an expert at grassroots organization and is quietly getting his supporters to be elected as the Convention Delegates. This means that on the second ballot, Cruz has a strong chance to flip a lot of supposedly "Trump Delegates". Trump has almost no grassroots organization, ties to the RNC, or any involvement in state or local GOP politics which means he'll be less effective in getting his supporters to the Convention.

Trump can't win. Its a fact. The GOP will rewrite every rule in the Convention Rules if they have to do it, but I can guarantee Trump won't win the GOP nomination.

And let him try to run as a 3rd party if he wants. He won't be able too. The independent and 3rd party rules to get onto the Presidential Ballot in every state are remarkably difficult (GOP and Democrats do it on purpose). The GOP and I included would rather lose with Cruz or Kasich or Paul Ryan or Mitt Romney or Jeb Bush, then lose with Trump. Its just a fact.

It's astonishing that after outlining the process in such detail, you can still call it 'organization' rather than 'fraud'. The intent of democracy is not that party elites can play games to ignore the will of the majority. You are just making a case why the GOP establishment needs to go. It's not in the interests of the people that the GOP establishment can bully and intimidate the pledged delegates to change affiliation. The one with most delegates should win the nomination, absolute majority or no absolute majority.

When Trump said he cannot promise to support the GOP candidate if he doesn't get a fair treatment, a big deal was made out of it. Now Cruz and Kasich give similar statements and it's ok. That said, if Trump decides to run as a 3rd party candidate, he won't win the election, but he will take the GOP with him.

Also, there is no way Cruz will win the election against Hillary. He has very little appeal apart from religious folk whereas Hillary is a center-left candidate. Only Trump can bring victory to the GOP.

You see this is why Trump's egotism will kill him. He wants to change the Convention rules so that the person with the majority of delegates wins the nominations. That's BS. That's never been the rule in the history of the GOP. The rule has always been you need 1237 delegates (a majority of the total delegates). If he can't win by how the rules have always been, then too bad for him.

The GOP establishment is not bullying and intimidating pledged delegates to change affiliation. I suggest you read my explanation again. What Kasich and Cruz are doing is getting their supporters elected to represent their states as the delegates at the Convention. There is nothing corrupt about this. If Trump was competent enough and such a great "winner" he could do the same, except he's a pariah among the active members of the GOP party and will never be able to get his members to the Convention. There's nothing corrupt about this. NO ONE is being forced to change affiliation or vote for Cruz/Kasich.

Also, there is no way Cruz will win the election against Hillary. He has very little appeal apart from religious folk whereas Hillary is a center-left candidate. Only Trump can bring victory to the GOP.

I can't believe you still think Trump can win the 2016 General Election when he's polling a 1:2 negative favorability rating among women, will alienate at least 1/3 of the GOP voters, and is already being shown to lose by double digits to Hillary and Sanders. Only 1 person can outright win the general election for the Republicans and that's Kasich. Cruz is the only Conservative Republican who can stand a chance of winning. I would challenge you show any proof that Trump could win against the Democrats in the General. I haven't found any polling evidence to indicate this.

No. Trump does not want to change the rules of the convention. He wants that in case of having a clear front-runner with, say, 1100 delegates aganist a runner-up with 700, the delegates should strongly consider supporting the front-runner because he clearly has a bigger support among grassroots than the runner-up (or someone else for that matter). Most people voting for Kasich or Cruz would still be OK with Trump as the GOP candidate, even if he isn't their first choice. It's clear that the 1100 candidate has more popular demand than the 700 one.

The rules of the race can be applied in many ways, but that doesn't mean all of them are smart. Changing the rules so that poor Jeb can be the candidate is possible but extremely stupid. Very few want him as president.

The delegates that are chosen to go the Convention are based on state political conventions where individuals are elected to represent their congressional district or county.

Ok, I didn't know about this. And who is eligible to vote in the state political conventions? GOP functionaries? Sounds very corrupt to me. What this means is that everyone who is not a favourite of the establishment is going to fight an uphill battle - they either need to win on the first ballot or they won't win at all.

Also let me note that while you gleefully watch these tricks perpetrated against Trump, the exact same thing would have happened to Ron Paul had he ever enjoyed substantial popular support. If that had been done to Ron, I doubt you would be asserting how fair and according-to-the-rules this all is.

Kasich? He's a nobody who has nothing to say but that he knows how to balance a budget. He doesn't have high unfavourability ratings right now, but if he becomes the nominee, that will quickly change. The Dems will make sure. And like I said, Cruz has little appeal to anyone outside Evangelicals.

Trump's unfavourability is a result of him being the primary target of everyone, including his own party members. No wonder he has such bad ratings. If you trust those numbers, then Kasich vs Sanders would be the most competitive match-up. But both are losing their own primaries, so those numbers are hardly reliable.

Once Trump becomes the GOP nominee, the party will surely at least cease attacking him the way they do now. Otherwise they will become a 20% party for the next decade or two. Once that happens, his ratings will rise. And he has proven that he can destroy candidates with smear. That is what will happen to Hillary as soon as he gets nominated. Cruz can't do that because it would destroy his reputation as a choirboy.

Essentially most delegates to the convention are people who have been active in the state party for many years through volunteer work or leadership positions. They're not going to let any old random joe go to the convention, but anybody is eligible to run as a Republican Delegate to the Convention so long as they are a registered Republican. Also note that Cruz is not a favorite of the establishment, yet he is extremely popular among the Grassroots Conservatives who work at the state and local levels of the party which is why he can get them to the convention.

Also let me note that while you gleefully watch these tricks perpetrated against Trump, the exact same thing would have happened to Ron Paul had he ever enjoyed substantial popular support. If that had been done to Ron, I doubt you would be asserting how fair and according-to-the-rules this all is.

They actually did use a rule to prevent Ron Paul from contesting Romney's nomination on the convention floor in 2012. Party Rules have been used to prevent real conservatives from getting the nomination since Senator Taft was running for the GOP nomination. In almost every situation I would abhor the use of these rules to subvert popular opinion and deny a true conservative the nomination. However 2012 isn't 2016, Trump isn't Ron Paul, and the real alternative (Ted Cruz) is not an establishment candidate. I'm all for Jeffersonian Democracy and Rule by the People, but at some point the party has to protect itself from mob rule, which is essentially what I characterize Trump's campaign as.

Oh you mean the same Ann Coulter who said: "The swing voters -- I like to refer to them as the idiot voters because they don't have set philosophical principles. You're either a liberal or you're a conservative if you have an IQ above a toaster." and is a known anti-Semite. I'm sorry but her opinion matters as much as Sarah Palin's and the Huffington Post...not very much.

The idea that Trump could win Blue and Purple States is also false. The voter registration gap between Democrats and Republicans in these Rust Belt states like NY and Pennsylvania are too steep and they outpace 2016 voter registration changes.

Trump won't even win fiercely conservative states like Utah. Trump got walloped in Utah because he insulted their favorite son (Mitt Romney) and the Mormons have already indicated they will support Hillary over Donald. Note that only 25% of Utah voted for Obama in 2012 and the idea that Trump could lose that state is laughable.

Trump's campaign manager is a white straight male so we know in advance that he is guilty of anything the media or that journalist tell.

I suggest reading this - https://www.leadershipinstitute.org/writings/?ID=12

That article still leaves some questions open:
1. Who is eligible to vote in the state political convention?
2. Does every state determine their delegates by a political convention, or are some determined in the primaries and caucuses?

In any case, the article paints a picture of a delegate being forced to be a long-time Republican activist for the party or a big donor. So young people as well as anti-establishment mindeds have a natural disadvantage. Why should a presidential candidate need to have kissed everyone's ass and bribed people in order to have a chance at the convention? This sounds like dealing with the mafia. Welcome to the Republican party.

In almost every situation I would abhor the use of these rules to subvert popular opinion and deny a true conservative the nomination.

If Trump loses this nomination, then the GOP establishment's position will be strengthened. And they will use the rules against True Conservatives just as much as against independents. That means bye-bye Rand Paul for the next 30 years.

The GOP establishment is lining behind Ted Cruz just because they will do anything to stop the Donald. But once Trump is toppled, they will turn on Cruz and control him just as they have controlled every other GOP candidate. Cruz is completely in the pocked of his donors, special interests, and the establishment.
