Such is my addiction to this game that i am considering purchasing an Android based tablet to play warlight on the move. Can any provide me with any feedback as to whether this is worthwhile?

That's a good question - I'm interested in the answer to this too.

Yeah I want a Xoom so bad, but i can't justify the purchase quite yet. I'm frustrated cause the gf has an iPad and thats useless with Flash, bleh :P

but i think warlight could work *really* well on a tablet format cause it's big enough

I've tried playing it on an iPad using an app called "Splashtop" which basically connects me to my PC like a remote desktop connection.

I can report that playing it on a remote desktop connection in a Chrome browser works perfectly well. Takes a little longer to do it with your fingers than a mouse but I've happily sat on the Sofa watching TV while playing a few games.

I frequently play on my Android phone, which is not an Android tablet though. But since the biggest limitation is the small screen size, I'd guess an Android tablet with a higher resolution should work just fine ... ?

Here's a list of annoyances I noticed while playing on Android:
- player list not scrollable / in big games only the top ~8 players on the list are visible (-> means you also cannot accept surrenders of players who are further down the list)
- buttons / icons too small -> sometimes it takes several times to hit the commit button or any other button (statistics, history, etc.). The "close window X"s are the worst :-) increas/decrease zoom buttons are also far too small
- fullscreen doesn't seem to work really good, in fullscreen the player list and part of the game board to the right gets chopped off.
- very reduced game board size, this could be better if the player list were either on the left side of the screen, or if it could be turned on and off.
- panning is tricky; when panning the screen I often end up placing armies in territories i never wanted to, you can only pan by clickin carefully outside your own territories
- no attacks/moves across screen borders; on my mobile phone i cannot issue attacks that go "around", e.g. from Japan to Hawaii on Earth map.

So to sum it up: should work on android tablet, but might not be the greatest game experience ...

I think the biggest problems is the fact that it's hard for the phone to distinguish the flash applet and the html of the page and which one you're clicking.

Making the buttons bigger would be key, and that'd have to be across the board. I imagine designing a whole site designed to phones will be tricky.

you'd have to route devices to the http://m.warlight.net page (I'm assuming they'll have to be another one to make the differneces).

I don't see playing on a phone as a viable option but a tablet I can see. I think it would work way better as a tablet app rather than having people go to the web to use it. An app you could meld the html and flash together into one application. Of course, that means someone has to write app code

I think a phone app could really boost the popularity of the game and thus generate more income, both by attracting new customers paying for membership as well as by selling the app itself or a premium version of it to phone users. I have no idea how the fees for apple or android app stores are, but I imagine having all the micropayments handled by someone else is more comfortable than doing it yourself via Paypal or Amazon etc.?

I tried playing in my HTC HD2 (windows mobile). Unfortunately most browsers for WM don't support flash :/ An app would be great though!
