Played an auto-game with a guy like this. He wins like 25% of 1v1 games but he fucking schooled me. I asked him why his stats were so low, he said he only sits vs people with a high winning %.

I think a lot of people have the opposite strategy. That's why they win 80% of 1v1 but are ranked 200 in the ladder.

They are not 'utterly meaningless,' which makes this a non-sequitur

Please explain to me how they are meaningful then. Cause I've seen people with 80%+ 1v1 win rates and they're garbage while I've also seen people with sub-60% win rates and they're exceptional.

It's funny, most time the player with hide winrates are good player with an second account imo
