I don't really think this is accurate. It'd be an interesting demographic study to poll some OT people and see, but for the most part i think it only seems as if Irreligion is more prevalent in online communities due to the irreligious being more open about their beliefs.

Actually, I think the majority is Christian - I am (from December to January), most everyone who is conservative (many folk) are, and then mostly atheists and deists for liberalism, and a fair amount of Christians for socialists and libertarians.

In response to the OP, here's my stance on this: rather than call it the Men's restroom or Women's restroom, rename to the biologically male restroom, and biologically female restroom. Solve's the identity issues, the potential for a rise in sexual assault, and ends the argument for or against by eliminating the basis of the argument. While it would increase sign costs due to an increase in characters, it would resolve this issue for probably good.

A man is a human with a penis and a Y chromosome. A woman is a human with an extra hole in her body and 2 X chromosomes. It's not grammar's fault that people can't wrap their heads around what they physically are and what they feel they are. There is nothing wrong with the current label for restrooms.

There's nothing really wrong with changing it, either, except for the mammoth money waste.

Some people feel that this is a massive part of their identity, and as such believe they are one gender while biologically the other. To what I believe is a small minority within this group, they take the limitations on not being able to use the restroom they identify with as being the equivalent of a evangelical christian only being allowed to enter a mosque or some other ridiculous analogy that would piss off the people involved. As such, since I am generally in favor of the terms:"Majority rule, minority rights", and risking a rise in sexual assaults to not be worth satisfying this minority group's right to identify with themselves, but figuring the monetary cost while prohibitive, is actually worth ending the issue, my solution is just to change the sign.

Funny thing is, I'm exactly the opposite on gay rights. I especially dislike people who cite religious rights as an excuse for their bigotry. Why I'm so opposite on similar issues is an enigma even to me.
Anyway, that's another flame war for another day...

No. It's not worth it, to pander to some definite minority loons. If you really want to pander, then how about checking the sale of alcohol to Muslims and barring it if they are (as it is against their faith)? Although Muslims as a whole would like that, no! Not worth the hassle. They're just going to have to deal with it, same as 2.5 million Muslims will have to deal with no governmental barring of gay marriage or transexists being pandered to here, offensive to the Christian and Islamic (probably Hindu and Jewish, too; being gay is criminal in India) faith.
