Actually, women's rights groups were some of the first to draw attention to the treatment of women in the Middle East. I'm old enough to remember the Clinton and GW Bush administrations. Prominent human rights and women's rights groups have been on this for decades urging the government to act. They were some of the first to say that we should watch out for these people but no one wanted to risk upsetting our country's oil buddies. Maybe if they had paid attention we could have stopped these terrorist states before they got so big and powerful but it didn't pay to give a shit about women's rights then. Now it serves only as an emotional plea to accomplish other goals. A means to an end. Nothing more.

All these first world feminists do is attack abstract issues and perceived "offenses", but they haven't done much that's actually improved the lives of women in the past few decades.

Women have gained a lot of rights in the past few decades. We have far more financial freedom. We can now apply for credit. We have legal recourse now if we're sexually harassed in the workplace or if our husband rapes us. That last one was only made illegal in 1993. That seems pretty major to me.

To be honest though, this march is mostly about raining on Trump's parade. They're trolling him. The worst thing you can do to someone like Trump is give him a bad turnout/bad ratings. He had a weak turnout for his inauguration and then the women's march ended up being much bigger. It worked too. Trump got hurt and started making wild claims about how many people he had at his inauguration and how big it was and, of course, it a massive conspiracy against him! They fucked with his ego bigtime.

Depends on if he acts like he did before the presidency during the presidency
