If you're like me, fellow mapmakers, then surely sometimes you struggle with the hassle of naming territories. Some places simply don't have enough names (that you can find) in order to name your territories after them. Google Maps is very useful in this case, but not foolproof.
What I recommend using is Mapcarta. It's an interactive map, and it's much like Google Maps, but more detailed; even northern Greenland has many named areas. More than just cities as well. Mountains, islands, lakes, rivers, islands, and even large bodies of water (like seas, bays, channels, etc.) all have names. So next time you want to make a massive map but you're afraid you won't be able to name all the territories, have no fear--Mapcarta is here.
Disclaimer: Google Maps features all of these things as well, but it's not always clickable, and it's not nearly as detailed as Mapcarta.
Seriously, this website is so useful.

Not everyone uses Google Maps, but I suggest giving Mapcarta a try anyway. And if you have something better than both Google Maps and Mapcarta, then by all means, share it.

I've always not made up territories but used administrative divisions so I use maps from google images or wikipedia for the concerned region which can come with a numbered list of territory names, sometimes you get svg files of those devisions too.
