Can someone explain how the RT ladder works?: 12/20/2017 02:53:35

Why do games dating back to April 2015 still count towards my rating? I was total garbage back then.

I understand how Elo works but how is Elo different from Truskill?

Listen, I am not begging for a higher rating without putting in the work. But the real people who suffer are those who lose to me. Their rating thinks they lost to a 1100 player so they will probably take a huge dip. Since I can maintain a 2050 on the 1v1 ladder, this doesn't seem fair to the others on the RT ladder.

The RT ladder system doesn't seem very intuitive. Is there a reason why it doesn't work the same as the other ladders with expired games and elo?

RTL rating formula =/= 1v1 rating formula

short version: if you're playing now games from 2015 barely matter, whereas in the 1v1 unexpired games counts a lot depending on your opponent

long version: https://www.google.com/search?q=trueskill&ie=&oe=

I wouldn't compare your 1v1 ladder rating to give you an idea of where you should be on the realtime ladder.

Edit: Oh plus looking at your deviation now it's 131 which is pretty high so games now will still have a big impact on your rating. If you don't like the idea of slow progress then wait til it gets down to <50

there is pro´s and con´s whit both systems, but for the rt ladder something like the mdl rating system would be miles better, so does pro´s and con´s dont really matter imo

RTL games don't expire, though the last 200 games or so only affect your rating more. 1v1 ladder rating, where games expire, actually can't be compared with RTL rating, and RTL requires mastery of different templates and True skill preserves the ratings, while MDL, where games don't expire, ratings go back to a nominal value after a period of no games. MDL also has activity bonus.

You can easily inflate ratings on 1v1 ladder (not about your rating, but in general)with runs(20-30 games)-but RTL ratings grow after these 20-30 games where the standard deviation decreases a lot. Ratings are recalculated based on the True Skill Mean, not the actual rating (1561.64 instead of 1166 in your rating). RTL sometimes award a big rating for a no-lose streak, since true skill mean will be very high and the deviation can take even more games to settle than normal.

Nobody takes runs seriously though. One look at someone's rating history and you can get a good idea at what rating they can maintain. A good benchmark is 1 month. If you do runs then you can't keep it a secret.
