What is the point of having to accept your opponents surrender in a 1v1 game?

Also, it would be nice to be able to see a summary of the progress in the league so it's easy to see how many games everyone has won and of course how many games they finished already. Right now the only option I know is to click every name in the league.

Bore: thanks for the feedback. I agree with removing the need to accept surrenders for subsequent tourneys.

As for your second suggestion, I don't see a good way of improving the progress info from what is already offered on the tournament page itself. At a glance, you can see the white lines represent completed games and the blue lines indicate games in progress - good feature. Then, as you say, clicking on each name in the circle gives a complete W/L record.

I plan to give summaries at the end of each RR, but to do so more frequently would clutter up this thread more than I'd like to. That doesn't mean that players can't chat about their progress here or on the tournament pages if the wish to.

Is it really set that we have to accept surrenders? I hadn't noticed.

Hmmm, TexasJohn's right. Not sure what you meant, bore, but it looks like the settings are already the way you suggest, there.

Here is an update to how things are shaking out structurally.

Group D (Season 2) has progressed very quickly. We might know the results there as early or earlier than the 3 Season 1 groups. With the Duke of Ben's departure, I am proposing to fill in his spot in Season 2 Group C with the winner of Group D - with time travel, this is possible. The winner's reward is not having to wait for Season 3.

This would mean that the current Group D 2nd and 3rd place finishers would be promoted to Group C in Season 3 and that the last place finisher will not be relegated to E for Season 3. They will be joined by the 5th and 6th finalists of Group C, Season 2.

BostonPhoenix, General Arun, Kingu, Luxis, Anakin Chigurh and Grzechooo are in line for Season 3 Group E. I am proposing to get that started soon, even though the timing and season overlap is getting a bit complicated. If there are any more who are interested in joining, they may get in on this Group E which does not necessarily have to be limited to 6.

Still open to suggestions.

I think is is better if you pretend that the group D (season 2) was playing in season 1.
reason:
1. Group D (Season 2) will end as early as the season 1 groups;
2. There has been no other group started for season 2.

So if you already did start group E for season 3, then i think you shout just "skip" season 2, or if you haven't started group E, season 3 yet then make it season 2.

On this way the players have to wait less.

I agree with Orange. Group D will end soon, as for now there are 4 games in progress plus only 1 that hasn't started yet.

Top 2 from every group would make first division, players placed 3-4 second division and so forth. No idea what to do with the 7th player in our group though.

This would lead to divisions made of eight players instead of six, what is a good thing in my opinion. Less chance of players having the same number of wins. If we are going for the 3 games at a time system then two additional games shouldn't be a problem.

I forgot about Duke of Ben.

6th player from his group, bottom two from the other "season I" groups and bottom three from group D could make third division.

Orange and Zerbi have made an interesting proposal and I understand the frustration of waiting. I'd like to hear from others on this, especially from those in the first three groups. I am considering the merits of this, but so far my hesitation is based on the following cons:

- I think we settled on 6 as an ideal number for groups, with 2 promoted, 2 relegated and 2 staying as the ordinary pattern, rather than 8.

- The original idea is to have lots of groups and eventually a long chain of groups that you can move up and down on - it's a long term challenge to see how high you can climb, for now we have enough for 5 groups and I don't want fewer at this point.

- I am probably going with Orange's suggestion of 3-games-at-a-time instead of 2, but even so, 8 in a group will delay the seasons more than 6 in a group.

- I think the fluidity of only 2 staying in the same group between seasons will make for more interest and variety instead of 4. That's too much of the same competitors over and over.

- Hopefully, in the grand scheme of things a bit more waiting will be worth the fun of having an ideally structured chain that has long-term interest.

Let's hear from the other participants on this. I'm leaning towards my proposal, but I will listen to a consensus going the other way.

I agree with Zerbi, this would make the groups much more balanced for the next season, but this grouping system will only be useful for 1 season to balance the groups fast.

But for the newcomers we should make a group where there place will decide in what group they will come in the Promotion/Relegation league on the whey Zerbi is proposing.

About the fourth point: with 8 players in a group we can still have 2 players staying, with top 3 promoted and bottom 3 delegated. Just wanted to point it out.

What's going on with group A? I saw an email saying that the tourney had finished, but I am still in a game. Was that the false start tourney you made at the beginning?

Also, LET'S HEAR RESULTS!

All 4 round-robins are nearing completion, but none of them are done yet. I plan to give results when the tourneys are complete. You're likely right about the email relating to the false start. In the meantime, if you need to brag a bit about still being undefeated, TexasJohn, go for it!

So far I have beaten Farragut, Bluemonkey, and HHH (which was a real shocker to me!), with a game against Warlord still in progress. That one is way to early to tell the result, although I think I am expanding quite well at the moment.

I guess Domenico is already in 2 games, and thus cannot play me until he finishes his current games? Personally, I wouldn't mind having the game limit set to 3, to make the rounds finish quicker. Others might disagree. It would be nice if the mechanics were like the ladder, where people could select how many games they wanted to play at a time. I guess that's not possible for tourneys, however, and it might make it less like a proper "relegation league" like you see in sports.

Sorry for the double post! I was just checking the tournament, and here are the results so far:

HHH: 4-1 (All games completed)

Me: 3-0 (2 games in progress*)

Farragut: 2-2 (1 game in progress)

Domenico: 0-2 (2 games in progress*)

Warlord: 2-2 (1 game in progress)

Blue Mokey: 0-4 (0 games in progress**)

-This could end up being a bit tight. What happens in the event of a tie (as would still be possible with me and Domenico)?

*It says me and Domenico have a game in progress, but it doesn't show up. What's up with that?

** Blue Monkey has finished 4 games, but has none left in progress. In a round-robin tournament, does a player stop getting new games once they are mathematically eliminated?

Thanks a bunch for the great idea, and for being a easy to contact on the forums! It might actually be a good idea to start a massive FFA game with all players (whole league or group by group) solely for updates/information.

So even a member cannot create games with more than 24. Fair play. Here is my idea:

For each "league" always have a player (a responsilbe one!) as "spokesman". The "spokesmen" can then be invited to a game with you, "the Commish". Obviously this is not a perfect solution (as some players are foreign, others are illiterite) but it is a working start, and definitely the easiest way to contact everyone, or at least most players. Obviously the forums are where the league was created, but some are not as active as others.
