This would be a hilarious challenge.

EDIT: I can do chess, but I'm not claiming to be able to do this myself!

They can, just not very well (and it takes a while).

Also the guys over at AI challenge seem to do it quite proficiently. In a way- http://theaigames.com/competitions/warlight-ai-challenge/leaderboard/global/

Um...I'm not exactly sure. I think I broke him in South America, but I honestly don't know. I'll post an update when the game's over.

UPDATE: Whew...remind me never to do that again. Yeah, it's extremely difficult to select territories and make proper attacks. Also, for picks, you don't know where the green territories are, so you have to select them by randomly clicking everywhere. Also, wastelands really mess you up. Around the middle of the game, I got sick of the gimmick and took my blindfold off (sue me), but by then it was too late.

Maybe instead of actually playing it blindfolded, you could try this by having someone else on the keyboard that announces stuff like "wasteland at x, starting picks at x, c, x" and whenever you spot an enemy, they'd tell you how much armies that spot has, etc. Then you'd still have to plan everything out in your head and then call out your orders to that player, but it might be slightly less impossible. ;)

I think I could do it if I have the map with wastelands and distribution before me (an equivalent of empty chessboard).

It would be aweful, imagine how many wasted clicks you would have.

A better test is let it auto pick for you and see if you can come back.

A few ideas to improve your blindfolded play.

-Count your orders, then count the sounds. This will tell you if an enemy appears on screen.
-Enable the card pop up so it is easier to play cards if you count the turns.
-Allow yourself to look when you pick, you will get booted trying to find your territories otherwise.

To thoose of you who don't play blindfolded chess.

Blindfold means that you would have to do all the thinking in your head. However typically that means you will be told what (visible) move your enemy performes (as well as your own *in terms of army lost). You normaly would have a blank (only the turn 0 map) / board which you would commit your orders on. You will only be told the information Once!

Thus it is more about memory then skills.

In that case, just use the "complete fog" setting.
