The killings had begun last month. At the beginning, I thought they were the job of some heartless thief or a serial killer, but as time went on and the killings increased, it was evident that this was no mere villager doing the murdering. The bodies were found tortured beyond recognition, always in dark alleyways. And they were always at night. We came out of our house every morning, always expecting the worst, presuming that another one of us had been murdered. The days were monotonous and boring, with the same routine every day, people rallying on the towns square and trying to get to the bottom of this. Well, I was the gravedigger, so I suppose I knew what I was getting into. Every day, I had to bury the dead that had been killed the previous night. And there was something similar about all of them. All reeked of some sort of ancient dark magic being used upon them, tortured beyond what any human would be capable of. Witches, thought the be hunted down long ago walked among us once again.
I have gathered the townsfolk and explained my suspicions to them. We will fight against them. We will unite. And those damn witches will burn at the stake before they kill us.
