I stumbled upon it when some friends of mine from another online game invited me to play it with them. That's where the name "Impaller" comes from (purposely spelled incorrectly, to be pronounced "im-pal-er" instead of "im-pale-er"), as it was a meaningful nickname to that group, and I figured it would be something where I played it a couple times with them and then moved on, so I put very little thought into my name. Little did I know I would be injecting it directly into my bloodstream on the order of 3-4 times a day within a couple of months.

The game was posted to a Polish site called JoeMonster.org, I found it there.

That's probably also true for around half of Polish players here, and the other half comes from Wykop.pl. :D

word of mouth.

This was before Warlight was a public game (right after Alpha Phase 8). To join, you would have to know someone that already plays, hence if you look at my profile, it says who invited me and you can trace it back to Randy.

man....those were the days...

Ahh, Alpha Phase 8. That was a good phase. Prior to that, clicking the re-do button didn't notify the server you were re-doing your orders. That means that if everyone else committed before you finished re-doing, the turn would advance and your old orders would be used while you were busy making your new set. Further, it didn't present you your original orders for editing - you had to re-make them from scratch.

It was exhilarating! Trying to rush and enter your orders before the other player committed their turn. I'd usually end up making multiple mistakes since I was rushing it - usually I'd forget to enter an attack I entered the first time. Too bad you never got to experience that :)

Randy, i kind of wish it was still like that sometimes, would be better some times to have your prior orders given rather then having some booter boot you cause you wanted to fix one or two things, in those quick games at least...

I played a risk game clone type game on kongregate.com and some people there started talking about it, cause that game was, and still is, having server issues, so we came here for stability.

I believe i have the most, or near to the most games played of the people that came within the same week as me, *one of which being the one that started the trend* and check it several times a day atm.
Name comes from that site of course.

I played the same risklike game on Kongregate for two weeks, but the server uses to be down too often. One time the server was down for more than 24 hours, and another member recommended WL. I tried it and was amazed by all its possibilities and its perfection.

I started advertising the game immediately (another guy and me used to shout "WAAAARLIIIIGHT!!!" in the kong chat). I got banned from the game by one of the moderators, but the developer was cool about it and un-banned me :P

I have brought some 10 new players recently (TBS whores), some other 10 tried it but thought it was too slow and/or boring (idiots).

I want to thank u for creating such a great game and making it free and without ads. Your a indie game hero!

But beware! If I discover an even cooler game I'll start advertising it here!

I was referred by Addai's Addidas. I think a couple dozen of us were referred by him. I think he found it at stumbleupon.
