Anyone here who knows how to create territories with several polygons? I need to create some territories with islands. I tried to group the polygons together and name the group, but WarLight didn't accept it.

Just select both (all) polygons and merge them. In Inkscape, it's Path -> Sum (Ctrl + +).

By the way, is there any neat and easy way (or trick) to make the borders of two bonuses to be separated (and parallel) with the appropriate distance? It's just impossible to get a perfect result by hand. Acceptable, yes... perfect, no.

You can try using Path -> Inset/Outset. You can adjust their "strength" in File -> Inkscape Preferences -> Steps.

To get the perfect look, you have to first divide every poly into two (or sometimes more; one is the border with other bonus, other - border with same bonus) and only inset one of them, then join them back; it's almost as tedious as doing it by hand.

You can also do it the lazy way - just inset everything until the borders do not overlap, whether they are between same-bonus or not. It's still more readable than when everything overlaps.



(Also - you probably can't get absolutely perfect vision at all because of the way Flash renders curves; in every editor you work on Bezier curves, but Flash uses quadratic ones - first has two control points, second only one, so it has smaller variety of shapes. Bezier curve can be approximated to quadratic, but it will not be perfect. That's why Cuba and Svalbard look so weird on the Earth map, with their "shaky" circle parts.)

Hm, maybe it's better to do it by hand after all. I like having some control of what is happening.

Another thing: should there be a small space between bonuses too, or should the lines "touch" each other? It's a little easier with the space, but I'm not sure which looks better. I'm thinking maybe there should be a small space when the borders a thin (on a larger map) and they should touch on a smaller one ('cause the lines are thicker so the space just looks weird). The space should be about one pixel wide on larger maps I guess.

hmm.. I had presumed the circles were there to give the numbers for armies a place to be in all the islands... Hawaii, Baja, Cuba, Svalbard, etc. etc. etc.

Nonono, that's why they are there; but notice they're not perfect circles, they're "wiggly" - and that's because of what I said ;)
