Well the official definition is, "People who lack belief in God or any higher power" or something along those lines.

What it usually comes down to on the internet? People who hate every religion, hate anyone who is religious, and will look down on and treat you as a second-class human if you display any religious beliefs.

Now not every Atheist matches the pattern above, but sadly the ones who do are the more vocal type.
