Yet another tournament blocked for months because two players in road to redemption have quit Warlight.

i think this is amazing.. a tournament being withheld because 5 players.. 1 not booting, the other 4 ignoring the game... IE, refusing to boot/read chat.. i even tried communicating with one of the players in a previous game to get him to boot, but with no response..

Sigh. While I'm glad that Fizzer at least recognized that this was a concern by making the maximum boot time 100 days, and even giving it retroactive effect, 100 days is naturally far too long - - the time needs to be shortened to 30 days or even 15. If someone hasn't moved within 15-30 days I think we can safely assume they've left WL or are playing games - - and not the appropriate kind.

As far as tourneys not starting or what have you because of deliberate actions, I'm not currently in any, but . . . what is going to take to create a mechanism (or, as Fizzer likely prefers to call it, a feature) where these people can be reported for a clear violation of the terms of service, and autobooted?

I think 100 days is very fair for being changed from infinity. I have several games i'm in that someone hasn't taken their turn for 60 days and it's just because it's a very long game where every move counts. I do think it solves the problem those old games because eventually they will be able to leave your list.

As for the reporting part, we can't really report them just because they are slow or have busy lives. If they are still in the boot time then really, they are playing the game normally. Again, I think in this situation, you just have to have caution when joining games and knowing which players to avoid.

I think a maximum allowable boot time of 30 days would be just fine. If you want to have games where people don't move for 60 days, everyone can discuss that at the time the game starts and go from there. Sounds like it wouldn't be a problem.

I wasn't suggesting that anyone be reported for having busy lives or being slow. I was talking about the situations that we continue to hear about in this forum where clowns deliberately don't move just to mess with people, or create problems for players who are beating them, whom they don't like, or whatever. See Perrin's most recent post in this thread, above, for example. The tournament that is the subject of the "Is there any way to file a complaint" thread is also locked up because a user (Alexander the Great, IIRC) is acting deliberately and with ill will, as is very well documented. There should be a process where these people can be reported and autobooted.

Now, it's relatively clear that Fizzer doesn't want to be troubled with that, and I'm sure certain people would abuse the reporting feature. But since there's already a reporting feature for violations like cursing excessively in chat, it sure would be nice to be able to report users who are obstructing the completion of games and entire tourneys.

The 100 days is certainly better than forever, yes. But it should be fewer.
