I believe it's the Hazaras, although there's almost certainly a lot of Mongol ancestry in that geographic region in general.

Britain also has quite a bit of soft power that helped it transition away from being a superpower. There are actually countries that voluntarily joined the Commonwealth of Nations despite never having been under British rule. You're the guy who was a dick in high school but was also super-classy and loaded and now that you've matured in some ways people are fond of you and willing to forget most of that history.

The American colonists gained independence, and the British failed to seize it back in 1812. The Americans failed, however, to get Canada but they're basically the neglected 51st state right now.

The USA's main goal was to stop Great Britain from stealing US sailors and forcing them to join the Royal Navy, which is one of the factors that led to the war. The US lost, but Britain stopped stealing people, so it is sort of a win-win. Also, I think the Oregon territory was a dispute between the two nations at the time, but I could be wrong about that.

Oregon wasn't a real dispute until Polk came to power, at which point it was settled peacefully.

I was joking. Americans just perceive Canada as our "little brother" and forget about it most of the time. It's definitely not much of a threat to American hegemony, especially now that Harper's drawing Canadian governance closer to American governance.
