My uncle was 11 when I was born. The dude has been a total kickass for me. We share alot of interests now days. The man has actually been a father figure to me. Not really much advice but you totally have some potential to be one of them epic uncles. Don't pass up opportunities to spend time with your new nephew/niece.

It's important to talk to them so they can pick up on the language. You can pretty much say anything. Just don't drop them.

I became an uncle when I was twelve. If your situation is anything like mine, you'll probably end up as a fun, big brother character for them. When they are old enough to play, spend time with them. That's pretty much it.

I have a 2-3 yrs old Niece

Basically, make sure you don't cuss majorly infront of them, make sure that you're nice and respectful to their mothers and other family members etc. And until they are about 6-7 pretty much dumb down everything you say infront of them into two syllables.

Do not dumb down speech. It's insulting, patronizing, and develops bad habits.

Intelligent adults were most certainly raised by people that did not baby-talk them, who instead encouraged them to learn from an early age.

One of my teachers had a kid that talked and stood upright from age 1. It was creepy as hell.

Really, illusions? I was the smartest student in elementary / middle school (high school? Maybe top 5) and my parents never played a major impact on my learning. I'd say i only got as smart as i was because i was genuinely interested in things that people usually discredit. One of my life goals is to be the next Renaissance Man, wish me luck.
