Boot rate is just a measure of how reliable you are at playing the game you said you were going to play. I don't see a need to separate them between multi-day and real-time- it's just a simple measure of reliability. And if you've got a consistency problem on top of a reliability problem, that's even worse.

Knyte, you like Circle clan too much. I try playing with them now and then but they're all so immature it's hard. Plus, they make a lot of bad diplomacy games. You can ask OTP about that, or was it Ox the Artist? Shrug.

But knyte, I finish far more multi day games than real time games, as real time games are more time dependent.

Yeah, if for some reason you are having lag/have to take a break during a multiday game, you'll still have many, many hours to reply. If you lag in RT, on smaller boot rate games, you're a goner.

@Tyrion:

Below is a plot of every clanned Warlight player's boot rate versus the portion of their games that's real-time. I think the title covers it.

If you're curious, the Pearson correlation coefficient for a linear regression of this data is 0.02305 (that's an r**2 of 0.0005, meaning only 0.05% of data is explained by the regression) and the two-tailed p-value is 0.1532. Feel free to suggest other regressions in case you think they'll have a high-enough r or a low-enough p-value (I only did linear because I like scipy.stats a lot and felt bad about not using it- I can't look at this data and see any worthwhile regressions). I've got the data saved just in case.

Challange, find yourself.

Also reasoning behind my top 5 strategic clans:

1. [20] Szeweningen, Myhand, Odin, HHH, Piggy, Unkownsoldier, Fridge. Speaks for itself.
2. Apex - Won CL5 I think & CL6.
3. WG - Best 3v3 EU clan.
4. GG - So many great players like Latnox and Ctrl, they are almost a hybrid Elite Clan.
5. Lynx - " " " " " JSA " Ruthless Bastard " " " " " "

@Kapy: Less because of free-time and more because I don't spend it wisely. :P But hey, at least I don't have time to troll the forums or write a screed about why the imperial Japanese flag is bad and clans using it should be opposed. Also coding during free time makes sense for me- since, y'know, ABC ("Always Be Coding").

Also, since the graph looked kinda quadratic-y, I tried a quadratic regression to see how well it would do. It's the thin blue line- and that line tells you a lot more than just "quadratic regressions don't work for this data":

There is no correlation between boot rate and percentage of real time games. Isn't that a lot more simple than writing up a script, plotting the data and uploading the graph to an export device?

export device

What exactly is an "export device"?

So I could just claim that no correlation exists... or actually prove it and show that there's no good reason to separate RT and MD boot rates since RT% has no discernible effect on boot rate.

(Also, the code for this was ~15 lines. I already had the data for other reasons.)

Oh. People are more likely to understand you (at least in the English-speaking world) if you call it an "image host" or (if you feel like being fancy) an "image-hosting service." "Device" is usually used to refer to a physical piece of mechanical or electronic equipment- for example, my Parrot AR drone is a "surveillance device" (not really). On the other hand, offering software and space for someone else to use is a type of "service"- an action that you offer to do for someone else, often in exchange for something.

Congratulations on your newfound tech literacy. You can now use a computer, gramps! :)

Knyte, i don't need your patronage you scrupulent box-knave. Perhaps return to my quarter when you're literate in actual world language, savvy? Also, i find value in a good book before battle. I do not prefer tacitus however; his pages are quite rough on the nether regions.

^ Not a statistician, but aren't Bell curves for 1D distributions?

I don't think that's something I can use to perform a regression, but if there's a way I'll do it.

EDIT: TIL that Gaussian regressions are a thing. Doing one right now :D
