I hope this is the right forum to talk about scenarios! Please don't bite my head off! :P

Ok, so I was thinking of making a Black Death Scenario, based on the year 1350, similar to the "World War Z" Scenario (the zombie one) but I'm having trouble finding a good map for this period.

I would like to use something like either

https://www.warlight.net/Map/18383-Orbis-Veteribus-Notus
(I love this map, and the 11 cities would be great to fight the plague over)

or

https://www.warlight.net/Map/16045-Tale-Four-Cities
(Similar, but only the 4 cities)

because I really like the idea of using the cities to stage starting points for the plague.

The four cities map is only 2 centuries out, but the focus of it is kind of in the wrong area, also it has a huge number of territories, I think I would prefer maybe about 800 or so.

Because of the size of the map it will take a lot of work, which is why I wanted to ask here first. If nobody can suggest anything better I will probably use Orbis Veteribus Notus because it also includes India, where the plague started. The only thing is the time period is completely wrong. Maybe I can just create something more "fictional" though.

Any input would be appreciated :)

So when you say it's similar to a Zombie Scenario, you mean there's a big AI fighting vs all others and the last man Standing wins the game? in that case i'd suggest to take a much smaller map cause the AI is very bad at big maps. on smaller ones it might be fun and even challenging.

Not a survival. I mean that there is a team of human players against one strong AI.

Like this: https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9349604

Sorry, I should have been more specific and linked this earlier.

I would like to build onto a European map to represent the Black Death, but maybe I can use a smaller European map for it, if the AI really would struggle with a big map. I always feel the lack of decent AI holds back a lot of the potential in this game...

Thanks for the game link :)

Just start a game and see how it goes, make improvements as needed.

The amount of work to create a custom scenario will be huge on a big map, so I want to get any input I can before hand :)

Hmm, considering that the Black Death wouldn't be like a zombie horde, doing a scenario would be pretty tough. Although that idea could work for a Mongol Invasion

Well, the AI would be representing the spread of the disease, as opposed to a zombie hoard.

It was just an idea, I'd like to play a large team against AI on a European map, basically :)

Another map that might work well, but this has over 1500 territories too:

I have an idea for a map...

There are a fair amount of bonuses which give you negative armies per turn, and maybe a point where plagued bonuses are positive (especially for a scenario like this)

Well, I'm not 100% sure what you mean, maybe like having bonuses which are negative apart from 1 territory that the AI owns? Something like that isn't easy to set up though, because bonus areas can only be set up by the map creator, I can only change the bonus values.

I could put the plague in bonuses and make them negative, that's a nice concept that I might be able to use in the future though, because if a player enters that area then the virus would become "active". That could be really fun actually in a game where players are cut of from eachother apart from these "swamps"

I'm also thinking about what you said about negative bonuses, and it makes me think of a concept game where all the bonuses on a map are negative but with a high base income, so expansion is actually a disadvantage. That could make for some really interesting strategies. I might work on that now actually... :)

Well, I made a game with negative bonuses and it flopped. People just don't seem to like trying new concepts in Warlight. Oh well.

#AllDeathsMatter

It got its name because your extremities would lose circulation, die, and turn black. Pretty horrible, wouldn't recommend Googling...
