As Pooncrew mentioned in another thread, I've been playing Warlight for close to a year now. I've come along way from the time. when I thought this was just a random risk app in the Google Play store (I honestly didn't find out about the desktop site until several months after I created my account).

While I still prefer the convenience and ease of the mobile app to logging on to my laptop when I want to play, I have to say that in the year I've been playing, there have been minimal, if any, updates to the app. The interface isn't bad, but I wish some features could be incorporated, like listing boot times on game icons, the ability to link to territories in chat, and most of all, the next game button. Not to mention lack of access to the forum and to tournament pages.

Maybe I'm wrong or taking a bad sample, but when I ask other players, at least half, if not more, seem to play primarily on mobile. So why are we not seeing updates to accommodate this? I'm not exactly an expert in the business, but in the field I work in, we're seeing a huge push to mobile over web, for easy access and faster spread of information. To me it makes sense to have mobile app improvements as a top priority for this game to grow.

Playing warlight on your phone is a great way to kill or waste time. That's why I got into it in the first place. But right now, playing on mobile takes away some key features of the game, and makes it frustrating for so many players.

Sorry for the Wednesday rant guys, just something I've been thinking about recently.

Couldn't agree more Queefballs, I play at work so the desktop is a no go, next game button would be really ideal for me because I prefer to just plow through my games. I know fizdog said that the app isnt his priority, but considering half the players use mobile as their preffered platform its time to update the app

yeah, you're right. I don't use the mobile app that much to begin with but when I'm forced to I hate doing so. Make a uservoice and I'll upvote

Mobile gaming is the future, and if warlight wants to be viable long term the app needs a lot of work. But a lot of features would be difficult to incorporate into a phone app, based on limited space and the need for larger buttons. Improving the app may need to come at the price of simplifying the game and limiting features to only the most valuable.

I only use the phone app when I'm on vacation for more than a few days.

The ads bother me. I rarely used my Qi account to play on the app and instead always used non-member accounts. I always felt like the ads and thus smaller screen obstructed my vision of the board and thereby weakened my ability to see and feel the game. I felt I was always at 85-90% with the ads on my screen. Now that I have a new member account and better vision, I feel like I am at 95% with the app.

No Fog < Ad Fog < Light Fog < Normal Fog < Heavy Fog < Complete Fog

No luck, right? Player A has a computer with a normal screen. Player B has an app with ads. It's completely fair, right? In essence, they are playing the game with different fog levels.

I would use the app a lot more if it had mail through it, and also the tournaments page. I find a lot of users never check those and just use the mobile app (I still check the website on my phone for those two items when away from a PC).

I think the interface in a game is great, I just wish it had mail/tournaments integrated at some point. I can't think of a more impactful thing for Fizzer to work on actually, given how many people I know that only use the app and could go a week with never seeing a tournament invite or mail sent to them.

Chris, that is going to be a problem in the clan league I'm afraid...

actually you can do (almost) everything if you Combine Internet and app. mails are accessible via normal Internet on the phone. i agree that an update would be great tough. the app crashes everytime i had a game open and i reopen the app or open a game on the Internet and i get redirected to the app. Also some maps have dark places and won't load them until you zoom in a lot

I actually find the ads on mobile to be less intrusive than on PC. The ads show up on my phone in a banner above the gameplay area, whereas on PC they pop up into the actual game screen. I thought no I've just gotten used to ignoring three top of my screen on the phone

True , it needs an update ATS an outdated WL : 3.8.1 , I am forced to live with it till I get a PC

Edit : I am forced to play on mums potato PC , which crashes every 2 mins just to do everything

Oh Chris yeah messaging would be key too, I forgot to mention that in my original post. I try to check the mobile site as often as possible, but if I'm busy on a weekend or travelling, I might not see a message or tournament invite until days later.

Every update to the game should be reflected on the app. Its been over a year, the app should be up to date.

I actually don't have ads on the mobile app :P

But I use the app mostly when I am in class, on the way or waiting. And that is also where it is meant for I think.

There isn't even any music, but there's sound. Also, you can't see your opponents' picks, when going through the history of a game.

I've got to use the app so that I don't get booted and being able to take part in the ladders and CLOTs. I can only access my laptop on weekends.
