And there's another country proving first past the post is a terrible voting system. Getting 54% of the seats with only 40% of the vote should not be possible under an adequate voting system.

Yes, I think a lot of people strategically voted to get Harper out of office and I voted Liberal! Go Justin! ~Trudeaumania~

What was very intriguing was that the last federal election the Liberals suffered heavily with only 34 seats but this time around they got 184 seats, 14 seats over majority! Every single riding in Atlantic Canada is Liberal which is amazing ^.^

He also is planning on legalizing marijuana i think, tax cuts for the middle class and raising taxes on the wealthiest Canadians

He also promised to run deficits for the next 3 years!

I like this guy, pulling out of the Middle East is a good thing, its just too expensive to keep all the fighting going on down there, I'm pretty sure the US wouldn't actually do anything in the Middle East, except there is Oil there.(Look at Africa for Comparison)

To an American this is mind-blowing. Political suicide here.

Or were you being sarcastic? Canada is a confusing land of strange, often weirdly polite people.

LOL @ "ISIS is the worst group of people since the Nazis"

ISIS is not a threat on a global scale. The only reason they haven't been wiped out yet because it's politically inconvenient.

Yeah, deficits aren't bad. Government debt doesn't work the same way as household debt. You can be well in the red before you feel any real pain.

Debt is bad.
Not fighting ISIL is bad.
Punishing the rich with unbalanced taxes is bad.
I hope Canada realises their mistake before this guy does something completely stupid like invading Greenland, withdrawing from the Commonwealth or NATO.

While not fighting isis is "bad" Canada compared to the us can't have too much impact in the region. Them pulling out is not greatly important logistics but political having one less country supporting the US isn't good for the USAs image.

"taxing the rich" could prove beneficial as well if done very subtly .... That being said countries have gotten more in taxes from lowering the tax on the rich.

withdrawing from the Commonwealth

Lets talk about it, "commonwealth", do you think Canada should continue to be ruled (symbolicly) by a English monarch? Since at least half of its population has not any English origin (unlike New Zealand or Australia) and do not identify themselves with Elizabeth II as queen (btw just my opinion, Canadian dollars are quite ugly, not because the queen is on it, but because it looks like monopoly bills). I guess you heard of QUebec independence movements, one first step would be to put out Canada from any English sovereignty (even symbolic) like Ireland did once, and that would reconciliate all the Canadians.

Hitler was not a global threat in the beginning. Early on France and Britain could of wiped out Nazi Germany, but it was politically inconvenient. History does often repeat itself, mostly because we humans refuse to learn and notice the patterns.

Also, I was referring more to their amoral actions rather than their current threat level. We're talking a group that regularly cuts off people's heads and even burned a Jordanian pilot alive inside of a cage.

We can either do something about ISIS, or sit on our hands and watch as they continue building strength/become more entrenched.

Eklipse truely believes the USA is fighting ISIS not supporting them.
You are so naive and uninformed, it hurts Eklipse.

There are already declassified Documents of the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) that contradict this assumption. Additionally, in an interview the former head of the DIA Michael T. Flynn has admited, that giving rise to the ISIS was a willful decision made by the Obama administration.

Also they would never be a real threat, mainly because of their fundamentalism. They are rejected by the majority of the population and are only in power because they are serving US interests in fighting and destabilizing the Assad regime.

Ah, yes. Here's myhand with the usual conspiracy theories. Just replace "The Jews" with "The Americans" and it's all the same formula.

Yes, I'm sure the U.S is launching airstrikes on ISIS because we're allied to them. I'm sure the U.S is backing the Syrian rebels, who are also enemies of ISIS, with supplies because we want ISIS to succeed. It makes total sense to waste resources fighting your allies and strengthening your enemies.

You can talk about declassified documents all you want, but it's an easy to confirm fact that the U.S has been expending resources to counter the agenda of ISIS. Even if we were once supporting them, we certainly aren't anymore.

It's not a conspiracy theory, it's conspiracy praxis if you so wish. I don't make that stuff up, you are free to google the very own information gathered by the very country you so eagerly try to defend.

So to prevent further confusion with the word conspiracy theory, i will give you an example of a conspiracy theory:

"Iraq has weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein is behind the attacks of 9/11."

P.S.: The US only fought ISIS briefly to protect the Oil fields in Iraq. They are off limits and ISIS was reminded of that. What is next? Are you going to tell me turkey is also fighting ISIS? Come on do it, prove your naivety once more.

@AngryPanda, about a fourth of Canada's population is in Quebec, im not sure about the origins of the rest of Canada completely but i would say the majority is English speaking and would identify with the Queen. Unlike the United States, Canada (minus Quebec i guess) don't want to kick out the Queen, we are quite content with being part of the commonwealth. We asked for our independence in 1982 and Britain said sure..???? That doesn't sound like a country that is eager to be rid of the Queen. And in my opinion, i love our money, its colourful and plastic and smells like maple syrup :D (she is only on the coinage and $20 bill btw, our Prime Ministers are on the rest) ... Britain is part of our government and style of politics, its how we are, the Governor General of Canada represents the Queen and they virtually have no power, all they do is basically agree to any bills parliament wants to pass. Withdrawing from the commonwealth and cutting all ties with Britain would make a lot of Canadians very upset, myself included.
