Recently the US House passed a bill that would disallow any Syrian refugees from entering the country.

What the fuck?! Come on people, a single attack that killed 129 people in Paris freaked you all out to the point of refusing refugees into America? Why this particular incident? What about the passenger plane ISIS blew up, killing 200+ people? What about the terrorist attack in a Kenyan university that killed 147 people? Yeah, I'll bet you haven't even heard of that, which further proves my point. This Paris attack is being used as an excuse to gain political power.

Oh, and another point: Aren't terrorist attacks one of the main reasons you right-wing nuts want to keep your guns around? To... protect yourselves?
Pick your poison please.
This would also make the US look bad. European countries are doing their fair share and helping out refugees. Meanwhile the US is full of armed pussies who are unwilling to help at all because they're scared of terrorists. Do you realize you'd be letting the terrorists win? This is exactly what they want. They'd use this as propaganda to recruit even more people.

I'm so fucking done with this country.

Poland doesn't want syrian refugees. Hungary doesn't want syrian refugees. Russia doesn't want syrian refugees. Greece doesn't want syrian refugees. Saudi Arabia doesn't want syrian refugees. UAE doesn't want syrian refugees. So many countries reject Syrian refugees. The entire argument that Western Europe is doing so the US should is such a glorious and naive narrative. We spent the greater part of our entire history not being involved in European geopolitics and now there's such a push by liberals and progressives to make us the spitting image of Europe. Please if you're so disgusted with America please leave.

Also your initial statement is a complete lie. Go read the actual bill. It places a temporary pause (basically slows down the acceptance rate) on the rate of immigration flow. It in no way ends America's acceptance of Syrian refugees. Stop lying to make a point.

PAUSE OF ADMITTANCE OF SOME REFUGEES.

Clearly wanting better security and a longer processing time for potential terrorists is completely nonsensical and xenophobic.

That's nothing new. Both sides always use tragedies to further their own political agendas. You should expect this.

Aren't terrorist attacks one of the main reasons you right-wing nuts want to keep your guns around? To... protect yourselves?

Oh here we go, gotta take a shot at those "evil right-wingers". This kind of partisanship makes me sick. The blind loyalty people have towards either the left or right wing is the reason we're always gridlocked and can't get anything done.

This would also make the US look bad. European countries are doing their fair share and helping out refugees.

"We should do it because Europe is doing it", that's a very old and tired argument. Just because X works for Europe doesn't mean it'll work for the U.S. Jumping on the bandwagon is not sound logic.

I'm so fucking done with this country

Then do something to help make it better or find a new country. Raging and ranting isn't going to bring the change you want.

Saudi Arabia doesn't want syrian refugees. UAE doesn't want syrian refugees.

This is what frustrates me the most. Everyone acts like it's the job of Europe and the U.S to handle the entire tidal wave of refugees. Meanwhile, many Middle Eastern countries who have adequate resources and compatible culture aren't doing squat (Jordan and Turkey are the exceptions to this, and I really admire all the effort Jordan has put forth given their limited resources).

Clearly wanting better security and a longer processing time for potential terrorists is completely nonsensical and xenophobic.

According to some people in the United States any kind of security is xenophobic or racist. Apparently we're supposed to just abolish our borders to allow anyone and everyone free access.

Edit: Also, gotta love how trump complains about the "right-wing nuts" but leaves out the fact that a sizable amount of Democrats backed the new bill. Extreme bias in action.

afaik many people went to keep the muslim refugees from entering, for as long as possible, on the premise that they are terrorists.

the christians from the same areas, they want to let in no problemo.

this ignores the fact that many of the terrorists were muslim for a short time, if at all. the issue is a regional thing, and not a religious one.

it also shows that certain americans are beginning to try for the whole segregration idea again, similar to the japanese internment camps. they are not seperating church from state like they are supposed to.

edit: like trump said, why bother allowing so much access to guns to fight off terrorists, if you are gonna try and seal the borders to outsiders? :P

"We should do it because Europe is doing it", that's a very old and tired argument. Just because X works for Europe doesn't mean it'll work for the U.S. Jumping on the bandwagon is not sound logic.

With all due respect, America may have been a pioneer for some things, but there is much we need to catch up on with the rest of the first world. Avoiding "unamerican" things is a surefire way to make our progress stagnate even further. If we are so great, then why do we rank so low on so many factors, like education? livability?

and besides, why shouldn't we help other people in need a bit, if we can? my impression is the u.s. is at least partially responsible for destabalizing the region anyway, so we would be helping fix problems we made. like with germany and japan? by your logic we should not help charities, or volunteer, or nothing. We would have little credibility if we were to ask other nations for help, if america acted like that.

and don't start the straw man fallacy about not wanting anything on the borders. many just want the u.s. to be accessible, and not a self-centered gated community.

Before I state my opinion I'll just say that being angry at a country for not accepting immigrants from a area so much that you're done with it, and not being angry enough to be done with it when it's bombing the country the immigrants are coming from is pretty stupid.

And the US isn't obligated to let everyone into the country. It can refuse and accept as many people as they please, it's not a horrid awful thing.

Screw that. Britain should let any indian under the poverty line in and give them a big fat check when they get to London. They stole all their wealth. REPARATIONS ARE NEEDED.

Yes Punching Bag, the US is largely responsible for destabilizing the region in the first place. We also keep supplying ISIS with weapons...

@Zephyrum
129 deaths in Paris is actually quite an insignificant number compared to the number of people who die regularly because of guns...
