Liquid assets are called this because they can be converted quickly into something else.

I thought that liquid means free-form or whatever, and is therefore moving, which is what a stock is.

Edit: looked it up, stocks are liquid assets, assuming no transaction fees. So lets call money invested in stocks Investment Portfolio, and non-invested money static money.

The easier the asset can be converted into cash, the more liquid it is. Ben, you are right, stocks can easily sold when compared to other places to put money, and therefore are fairly liquid. Straight up cash is the most liquid.

A good rating jump over a year would be 50%. If a player held #1 for a full year, to earn the same amount of money you'd need about $3 a day in dividends, per share, or about $90 a month.

Therefore, I propose a monthly 1v1 dividend of:
$3 * (31-rank) * number of shares
(nothing if ranked below 30)

For 2v2, it would be (per month):
$6 * (16-rank) * number of shares
(nothing if ranked below 15)

For 3v3:
$9 * (11-rank) * number of shares
(nothing if ranked below 10)

I did them monthly because it'll be a lot less hassle than checking them daily.

@Hanky Correct, but add total value(49840)
@Jz much better, but maybe a good compromise is weekly, because monthly is too little. Say the same formula, but updated weekly.

The problem is that the rankings on the ladders never stay the same for a whole month, unless you're someone crazy holding on to the #1 spot for as long as possible. Dividends have to be daily to be completely accurate.

$10* (30-ladder rank) etc does seem a bit high though. Maybe a smaller daily dividend would make more sense?

Here are the comparable weekly numbers:

A weekly 1v1 dividend of:
$0.75 * (31-rank) * number of shares
(nothing if ranked below 30)

For 2v2, it would be (per week):
$1.50 * (16-rank) * number of shares
(nothing if ranked below 15)

For 3v3:
$2.25 * (11-rank) * number of shares
(nothing if ranked below 10)

You lose some of the accuracy, but I'm all for laziness :)

How about:

5*(16-rank)*shares - 1v1
10*(11-rank)*shares - 2v2
15*(6-rank)*shares - 3v3

Compromise proposed by president of the stock market. Dividends are calculated once every 3 days.

By the way, maybe we can also invest in clan league when next season rolls around? Here's my thought: all clan shares initially valued at $1,000, and the clan's win rate determines share increase. What you'd get then, is a form of long-term, lower-risk income.

You'd probably want to really slash the appreciation rate, though, to make it closer to realistic.

Kasparov Hedge Fund has chosen to rename itself to 'Kasparov's Hedge Fund', because, why not. It closes off the evening with a total of -180, or -0.36%. AWESOMEGUY RT rose slightly, but ironically, LEGACY RT has proven to be a much weaker short-term investment than was hoped. LEGACY RT is currently the worst-performing stock in Kasparov's Hedge Fund's portfolio.

^ Yes, just include total value, (49750). Also, you did not compensate for $250 of transfer fees which is to be taken from your liquid assests.

@Benjamin, to clarify;

So, we can invest in any players that are rated but not ranked? I had thought a player would need to be ranked (and maintain the rank) to be on the market.

Said player that you invest in must be RANKED. For example, szeweningens RT Ladder rating is ~2500. He is unRANKed, so the stock value is 0. You cannot buy this stock, until szeweningen gets ranked, then you can buy the stock.
