Just gonna pop in to say a few things.

1. Jimmy Carter banned Iranians from entering the U.S for a short period of time during his Presidency, and he fully got away with it. What Trump's proposing is hardly new. Although it's doomed to failure because people can easily lie about their religion.

2. Give Trump some credit, there's nothing more nostalgically American than making British people angry. (I'm just joking here, don't make a petition to ban me from the U.K please. I hope to see the land of my ancestors one day)

In all seriousness though, Trump's plan would never happen and even if it did it wouldn't work. Banning someone just for expressing an idea shows a serious lack of tolerance for differing viewpoints. Yes, it's a dumb and offensive idea, but in the end little harm has been done.

The thing is that the same people who are in full rage against Trump (and they should be) are the same globalists and progressives that would not issue a law banning legal immigration (non-refugees and asylum seekers) from terrorist hot spot countries like Pakistan.

I don't think we should discriminate against Muslims. But we should halt immigration from countries that are known exporters of terrorism.

Only Rand Paul had the courage to introduce a bill like this. And only 10 senators had the courage to support it.
