Its not like he killed someone, committed human rights abuses, orchestrated a ponzi scheme, or did anything even borderline criminal. No of course not. That would be completely ludicrous, would harm relations with Germany, and would be equitable to censoring freedom of speech. A whole country (if the petition was adopted) would be punishing someone for saying their opinion essentially. That's not very European if you ask me. That being said a public petition to ban Trump from the UK is literally the UK public giving the finger to (at least) 10% of the American voting public (Republican support for Trump is 30% and the number of Republicans is about 1/3 of the US voting population).

About this petition, I believe it was just to make people reacting about how stupid Trump's xenophobic statements were, nothing serious, and it worked you see, you are currently discussing about it. Trunp plainly went to far with his comments, and it's a totally unworkable proposal, but the sentiment just as with most of the things he says resonates with a good proportion of the American people.

I'm not sure how you can make an argument that Republican voters are any sort of minority in the US; Currently Republicans make up majorities in the house of Representatives AND the Senate AND Have control of 31 State legislatures, while Democrats only Control 11. There are 32 states with republican governors, and only 17 with Democratic governors.

Historically, there have been 18 republican presidents, and only 15 Democrat ones, Despite the fact that the Democrat party is older by 26 Years.
