Are diplo's declining?: 2/2/2016 16:53:06

Generally speaking (RT+Multiday), diplomacy games aren't declining. however, if we analyze RT and Multiday separately, since almost 3 years I'm playing WL, I noticed a great decrease of RT diplomacy games (sadly), less maps/varieties of games are also created than before in RT, whereas at the meantime Multiday ones are far more popular now than before.

Are diplo's [sic] declining?

Diplomacy isn't real Warlight, so it would make sense that it would drive itself to a natural extinction.

i never blacklisted anybody beacuse backstabing is only way to win in diplo games. I suggest you to play multi-day diplos beacuse in real-time many players left and there are not many wars beacuse players fight with neutrals :/.

I totally disagree here with FK, as I stated just before, diplomacy games aren't declining generally speaking, it is even the contrary, the only decline I noticed is among the RT games now compensated with the increase among Multiday games.
Also your statement about "diplomacy isn't real WL" does not stand, I would say diplomacy games are just an evolution of Warlight, and I believe in the future we will see more features focused on diplomacy games.

i trust my clan too much

Somebody likes Darklords? lol

Seriously though, yeah. Firstly, Multiday > Realtime. Secondly, the people who play diplos seriously (seriously meaning, they want to play games that don't have people booted all the time, have shitty RP, etc.) move to clans and play private games there. Either that, or they get lucky enough to be invited to private games without being in a clan.

any way i can get it down?

Play auto-1v1-games. I know it's manageable with multi-day games. Not sure how quick you can do it with RT. Probably faster, but not 100% sure.

Hey, if you're really desperate, just join a bunch of 'surrenders happen immediately' games, and surrender them, immediately. You don't have to win any games to get your boot rate down. Of course, your win rate will suffer, but that's much less important.

Any arguments to back up your statement? I don't see why diplomacy games would be less real than large FFA's.

Wolves host a lot of games- A LOT (I have 40+ multidays). Or you could join some other diplo clan (DARKLORDS? Join a diplo clan.), even if your clan doesn't host many games, you'll probably be invited to some interclan diplos, which are almost always some of my favorites.

In quality? Yes. In quantity? Yes.

Mostly because diplo players are also declining on both fronts.

You are perhaps right Knyte, but if this is true this would be due to many factors, the most important one being the lack of support/interest from the WL staff.

I like playing both kind of games, ladders and diplomacies, I would have joined a diplomacy clan, but at the time I failed to find a clan with good requirements (low bootrate and a good ammount of games to join). I guess there isn't really elite diplomacy clans anyway.

AOE requirement's for example:

Recruitment Requirements:
1) At least level 1 player
2) Played at least 10 games
3) Boot rate under 60%

That must be a joke lol. And even worst, I've found a member that didn't even follow these requirements:
-Sirswaglord, 63.1% bootrate.

How can you play a diplomacy game with players with a bootrate over 50%? He'll get statistically booted more then one every two games, beeing probably just a matter of time...

@Death, in response to your query:

FFAs are just as useless as diplomacy. If you want to really experience Warlight, stick to 1v1s and competitive 2v2/3v3. :)

I agree 110% with Kretoma and Koala. I honestly can't stand more than the occasional "Strat" game, they bore me to heck. The complexities and dynamics of a (good) FFA or Diplo is way more interesting and involved, and takes real skill. I find mostly only 1-dimensional players stick to the "Strat" stuff.

I think part of the problem is the good diplo players/makers are only playing inside clans (you have to get to know the players, and it's not easy, networking is key) and also there is a lack of good enough players for these sorts of games. Far too many players think that "Fighting everyone on all fronts at all times" is the only way to play, which works GREAT in 1v1 or team games, but they often fail miserably in a FFA or Diplo situation, or they just make the game drag out for everyone else while they deal with him, kill him, then the game can usually begin...
