I just had this idea because I am frustrated with a few things. Just hear me out please.

I am a non-member, but at some point would like to become one. I am not sure what you get for being a member, maybe ease of use that a non-member doesnt get...

Anyway. I feel that there should be something implemented for card use. For example, In a recent 3vs3 game I told teammate C to use a reinfo card. Then teammate B told me I should use it because it would benefit the team more so. So I used it and tried committing my orders, but I could not commit because teammate C already selected to use it and didnt have time to restart his moves. My not being able to commit, the two minute boot time had passed, then I was booted. If there was an easier way to unselect a card without having to start your entire turn over, I feel this could help a lot of us. Implementing something like this would probably be very difficult. Again, just and idea.

About boot times. Numerous times, MANY times I am booted by players who are still new to this game, maybe under 100 games played. Often times it is late in the game when it can take quite a few minutes to submit/commit your moves. I was thinking that there could be a new option for creating games, such as a Direct Boot only after a player has exceeded the time limit 2 turns in a row. Or exceeded the boot time 5 times in total. There could also be a screen that pops up letting the player know that they can now be booted during any turn after the boot time has expired. When I am booted by newer players I try to explain to them how its not cool, how it tends to just piss people off, "win by boot", blah blah blah. But this idea I have may help solve some of the "unsporting boots".

I know there will be some of you who will read this that will say,"just make your moves within the time limit and you wont get booted". I understand this, but all of us have been booted and also know how frustrating it is when someone boots because they feel it will help them win or keep them from losing.

Thoughts anyone?

I understand your frustration. People seem to use the boot timer to win games. I personally would rather win in a fair fight, but whatever.

With that said, you're talking about a game with a TWO MINUTE boot timer. What are you expecting going in?

When you play a card (or enter any order, for that matter) it appears in your orders list on the right side. You can click on it there and delete it - you don't need to start your turn over.

What if somebody quits playing a game completely? Then the game would be stalled since he wouldn't be bootable if it was his first time going over the limit.

I know you'll fire back with "Well, he should become bootable X amount of time after the boot timer." What you're really getting at is you want the boot speed to measure more than a single turn - i.e. if someone is usually really fast, they'll get more time than the player that's consistently slow. This feature already exists - it's called [Banking Boot Times](http://warlight.net/ViewHelp.aspx?s=BootingAndNudging)

playing 3v3 in a 2 minute boot just doesn't seem advisable imho.. unless the teammates are on vent or a more active chat system then warlight implements..

For real time games, I imagine a three strikes variant of the booting system could be helpful. Exceed boot time once and a player tries to boot you, then you get your first warning. By then you know you are up against a trigger happy player. Exceed it by double the boot time and the boot button becomes active again. If he tries to boot you again you get your second warning, same if you repeatedly exceed boot time on a different turn. Exceed it by three times the boot time or on three different turns and you are out.

diabolicus' thing sounds good

banking boot doesnt work because boot time is so high towards the end of a game, and sometimes too low at the start.

@Fizzer - I have played so many games not knowing you could unselect a card within the orders list. I feel so stupid. Thanks for enlightening me, hahaha. Seriously though, my comments and suggestions are in no way meant to come of as rude, just trying to help. Warlight rocks!!!

@Perrin - The 3vs3 with a two minute boot time also had a 5 minute auto boot. I was booted when the clock ran out of the 2 minutes without any sort of warning whatsoever.

I think the three strikes sort of thing could work well. Although, this option should only be available for games that are using the auto boot option. Without auto boot, Fizzer's point is 100% valid,"What if someone quits playing the game completely? ...game would be stalled..."

I agree with Diabolicus with some minor tweaks. A warning window, with sound(if turned on) would also be a nice touch.

I think I had played like 200 games before I noticed it.. in fact I think I noticed it because someone told someone else in my team you can do it, lmao.

Haha yeah I was the same with picking territories too. I'd pick the wrong one and be like F*#k and then start over. It was a bitch on large maps XD

Not reading anyone else's post yet, I happen to like your idea for booting. But I think it could be tweaked a bit. I think the opponent has the option to direct boot each and every time, but on a certain turn, you would get auto-booted instead. So your 2 and 5 turn limit would be an auto-boot at the end. I understand the frustration of quick games and the boot time, but my own solution to that is to set up a multi-game and then talk with the person and make it a Live game. That way, you don't have to worry about the boot and both players are at their computers playing and if something comes up (internet troubles, have to leave, etc) you're covered.

@Fizzer...

Do you think something like my idea(with tweaks) could by implemented in the future?

I am aware that you work on this game roughly 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. I know you have a lot going on. I was wondering what you thought.

I think we could solve that problem by, having the card become unavailable when someone uses it. I always thought it was odd that more than one player could choose it, and then have to redo orders to unselect it

the problem occurs because it doesn't become unavailable until player A commits his turn.. so when player B has his turn half done he can still have it selected to have the card played prior to Player A commiting his orders..

There would be no quick response to solve this problem

Player A and Player B aren't communicating.. they both select to use a Reinforcement card for 10 armies.. Player A deploys armies and sets up attacks adn commits while Player B has only Deployed his armies.. What should warlight do to solve the problem of Player B's extra 10 deployed armies? should it randomly choose 10 to undeploy to solve the issue, or issue a warning stating that Player B is trying to use a card that Player A has already used..?
